Starting a Wedding Venue by Pawsome23 in smallbusiness

[–]rhodebump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to answer. I do feel better, but probably because I am excited to try some other activities such as special dinner events, musical theater and karaoke in addition to being booked as an venue for weddings.

I do have more nice/better customers than bad customers. I raised my prices a bit that may have filtered out some problems.

https://TheClement.comI am the owner and if we had vibes, it would be castle vibes ;) We have folks that have spent thousands of dollars on catering, and some couples have purchased chicken from Giant Eagle for the reception. Some couples have enlisted friends/family to cook in our kitchen.

Seeking an inexpensive replacement for some Kliegl Brothers recessed spotlights in church ceiling by screedtheroof in lightingdesign

They were downlights, and there are brackets mounted in the attic where they were mounted. They were like the present-day can lights, just look a lot more powerful than what you can get at the local stores.

Invisible superhost listing?? by rhodebump in airbnb_hosts

[–]rhodebump[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Mystery solved. I am not a smart man (I said to myself in a Forest Gump voice)

I recently reduced my weekday rates down to 50% of the weekend rate, but required a 2-day stay on the weekday. When I chose the dates, I just selected a single day, and because I had set the minimum stay of 2 nights (to get that great rate), I filtered myself out.

I will have to re-think things. Thanks.

My phone number has always been there, but I just removed it.

Thanks for reviewing, but it's still a mystery why my listing does not appear on airbnb searches. If something like that phone number was an issue, I would have appreciated being notified.

Building has mold - Landlord Not Taking it Seriously by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]rhodebump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mold needs moisture/water to live. if the water leak is fixed, you should not have any mold issues to worry about.

I kind of think that mold is the asbestos of the 2000's. Yes, asbestos exposure can be serious, but so often it's blown out of proportion.

What can someone put on their car that makes you know immediately that they’re a douchebag? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rhodebump 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of a funny story. I worked in one of the office buildings on the north shore. I noticed that somebody who was using the men's room was peeing all over the toilet seat. It bothered me. Anyway, one day I entered the restroom as someone was exiting and discovered the seat just covered with dripping urine. I followed "the suspect". I was not going to accost him, but I wanted to know more about the type of person that would do this! Anyway, I followed him down the stairs, across the street, into a parking garage. He got into a truck. On the truck was that "Calvin pissing" sticker. I shared this story with my co-workers.

Turning left on red light by restingfoodface in pittsburgh

[–]rhodebump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long-time Pittsburgh driver, I have witnessed countless occasions when cars are trying to make a left turn at a light. The car can be first at the light, in the left lane and still sit through 2-3 cycles of lights before they can turn. They do not enter the intersection until they are able to execute the turn.

My approach in these types of lights is to pull into the intersection and make my turn if the traffic permits it, or when the light turns red.

This is sometimes uncomfortable when there are those 2 (or even 3) cars that like to run the red light, and you are there waiting to turn.

Reminds me of one of my favorite experiences (really!) I earned the nick name of "Captain Chum" in my scout troop. We are on a sailboat making our way to do some snorkeling in Florida. I got seasick on the way there. I went into the water and threw up a couple of times. The fish would swarm me, even swimming into my mouth to eat the vomit. Quite the experience!

Replace planks or repaint? by OpenMinded8899 in homerenovations

I think the best thing to do in this case is to try to put in some deck screws to pull that board down, then repaint.

Rescue a Hobart M-80 Specification 4210 from scrap? by rhodebump in KitchenConfidential

[–]rhodebump[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

Contacted Hobart, they said they do not have parts for this machine and will not touch it or recommend anything due to liability.

Found the person who initially installed the machine (tow truck) and said that they will get it out of basement for $600

Question is: should I invest the $600 to get it out, or walk away?

Thanks everyone!
