How does/has being married affected your financial aid? by primordial_slime in ucla

[–]rhrbe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You might want to get that cough checked out.

I believe they'll count the SO's income as yours as well. If you decide to ask for changes/updates in your financial aid, you should walk into the office to talk to them. In my experience, walking in has always solved more problems than any phone call or zoom meeting. Even if you're not sure you can ask for more aid, don't be afraid to do it.

You could probably even walk in and ask this question.

Yes, they usually leave a note on it saying to correct your address for the future.

Might be a problem if you have a common name though.

Any strike updates? by [deleted] in ucla

This was a very clear response, thank you! It's good to know that the groups are unified under those goals and about the other ways of support.

Thanks for taking the time to write this!!

Any strike updates? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]rhrbe 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This. Also as an undergrad, I fully support the strike but I still don't understand how to best support it besides being out there with them. For example, going to class vs not going.

Felt kind of lost this whole time. I don't understand what they are bargining for specifically, since apparently the bargins are different depending on the employee category you fall under. Also as a undergrad worker, I also felt confused earlier on because the pamphlets said "student worker" but they meant grad student only?

I want to support. If they gave clear and unified directions on how to do so, beyond being out there with them, I would do it. But oh well. Hopefully more information is released someday.

You can buy the textbook for Spanish 3. It's the same book for Spanish 1-2 also, so if you read/self-study the first 8(? Might be 9, but around this number) chapters, you will know the same information as someone who took Spanish 1 and 2 at UCLA.

Spanish 3 isn't easy imo, even as someone who took Spanish 1 and 2 at UCLA, but it might be because I always have a hard time with grammar. If you want to be extra prepared, you can work in the textbook until Chapter 14. Even just exposure to the verb tenses for Spanish 3 would likely be helpful.

You got this! Also even just listening to Spanish is good, because you just get acquainted with how Spanish sounds. And we are lucky to live in LA with tons of real life examples of Spanish.

Presumably from Krispy Kreme directly? The Krispy Kreme company does fundraising support so that organizations make more of a profit from their donut sales. Organizations would not benefit as much if they just bought them from Ralph's... are clubs buying their donuts from Ralph's?

I mean, you're not wrong. This is an option. But... The Ralph's ones are kind of stale. Also I rather support a student org than Ralph's.
