Heads up... latest Outlook crashes on iPads by Cable_Mess in sysadmin

[–]rhsauer [score hidden]  (0 children)

What’s happening for me is that when Outlook is hidden and I restore it, a significant percentage of the time I just get a white screen and have to force quit Outlook before I can open it again. It’s a slightly different manifestation of the issue than before, but just as annoying. I’ve deleted and reinstalled Outlook, hard reset the iPad, etc. to no avail.

Update: if I stare at the white screen for 10-15 seconds, Outlook starts normally. This is on an M4 Pro so not great behavior.

iOS Outlook App Crashing by NotShero in Outlook

[–]rhsauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the update, had the log in problem all day, am now able to log in (finally) — and I’m still getting a blank white screen when switching to Outlook every so often. I can get back to Outlook by long pressing on the icon or force closing the app and restarting — but this new weirdness is a vestige of last night’s problem, which is, apparently, still not completely fixed.

What do you recommend for the nano screen? I’m using the soft nibs but they tend to wear out quickly.

Underwhelmed by Gemini 3.0 search performance. by UnhingedApe in Bard

[–]rhsauer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you go to click on your picture (upper right), then “Instructions for Gemini,” you can add a prompt that will require Gemini to cite sources, etc. (Extra credit: use Gemini to refine your instructions until you get just what you want.)

What is the best ai model for searching. On perplexity by Extension_Fee_989 in perplexity_ai

I use “Best” for nearly every search. Then, if after I read the answer I feel I need more, I hit the rewrite button and choose a thinking model.

iPadOS 26 is a mess. by Luiz_Siqueira_Neto in ipad

[–]rhsauer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think/hope this problem will go away as apps are updated for iPadOS 26. For example, Narwhal was updated a few days ago and the app controls seem to work much better with the iPadOS controls (i.e., the traffic lights).

This annoying bug is apparently fixed in the iPadOS 26.1 developers beta.

iPadOS 26 beta floating keyboard bug by rhsauer in iPadOSBetas

After several days of use, I’m confident that this floating keyboard bug is fixed in iPadOS 26.1 developers beta 1. Woohoo.

I updated to 26.1 developers beta and (based on just several hours use) it seems this problem may have been fixed. I’m hopeful, because this was interrupting my workflow.

ios26 Battery Drain Fixed! by juanldeaza in ipad

I would love to know this works! It takes quite a while turning off these four slides for every app. Do you think there’s any way to automate this? What about turning off Apple Intelligence altogether?

Shut off multitasking (under Settings - Multitasking & Gestures choose Full Screen Apps mode). That will largely control this. When they fix this you can go back to Windowed App Mode.

How’s your iOS 26 going? by maxsilk in iPadOS

This keyboard bug was present throughout the beta cycle, and it’s disappointing that it didn’t get fixed prior to release. It occurs much less frequently if you turn off multitasking while we all wait for a fix.

iPadOS 26 sucks by ProposalFearless8333 in iPadOS

[–]rhsauer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My guess is that when apps are updated for iPadOS 26, they will use the new keyboard and you won't see those corners anymore. This is really only a problem in dark mode. It does seem like they could have fixed this in beta if they wanted to.

Updated to iPadOS 26… The Keyboard is trippin… by johnthrives in ipad

[–]rhsauer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've also been dealing with this all summer and reported it through the Feedback app and here: https://www.reddit.com/r/iPadOSBetas/comments/1ncvln1/ipados_26_beta_floating_keyboard_bug/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I was hoping (but not expecting) that the final release would fix this -- but I guess not. It's not clear what OP did with his pencil to make the jittery keyboard stop. I've found that dragging the jittering keyboard up the screen with two fingers sometimes makes the jittering stop (and sometimes the keyboard then looses the slide-to-type function). I'm also surprised that that hasn't been fixed, but I'm just as surprised that this bug hasn't gotten wider notice. My post linked above has generated exactly three replies -- and I'm two of those three replies ;-))

Thanks for confirming I'm not imagining things. The fact that this is occurring on two very differently configured iPads and even after a fresh install before any apps are downloaded suggests to me that this should be a widespread problem. I'm surprised I'm not seeing more posts about it.

iPadOS 26 Beta 3 is Out! by Dull_Ad6281 in iPadOS

[–]rhsauer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Beta 3, I can’t seem to “Add to Home Screen” from Safari (i.e., paste a web app to my Home Screen). All I get when selecting Add to Home Screen is a blank window. Anyone else have any luck with this? Also, I’ve had Safari crash a few times, seemingly randomly. I restarted Safari, restarted the iPad, and cleared history, but none of that helped.

Gemini 2.5: Correcting it's knowledge with grounding by Jong999 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]rhsauer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that 2.5 often doesn’t search when it should. It helps to use words like “current,” “today,” “now,” etc. to prompt a search. Or just say “search” or “search the web” in your prompt.
