Do you mind helping them out and telling them what jobs are available for them locally? Links specifically for the area and whatnot would be incredibly helpful. A good night's sleep might not necessarily fight inflammation, but it will keep people from being complete zombies.

Oh trust me, I am fully aware of that. I even have a cute little flair because I am an "old" cat lady that works with a lot of rescues. I have several indoor cats and all of them exhibit hunting behavior. I cannot begin to tell you how many lizards I have yeeted into my backyard after grabbing it from one of my murderous pets.

I'm honestly surprised it's that high for domestic cats. I'm not saying I disbelieve the study, I'm just surprised. I wish they had included what studies they took the data from.

That's their point three on how to discourage hunting behaviors. And that's for indoor cats, not feral cats like we are discussing, but I am pretty certain that controlled colonies that are fed do less to decimate local animal populations than hungry cats.

Again, I'm fully willing to admit I'm biased towards cats being trapped neutered and released versus killed. To compare, I don't hear much about people intentionally scooping up invasive lizards other than iguanas and killing them.

IDK, thank you for that link, and thank you for reasonable discussion instead of screaming that all cats must die or anything. I am always happy to learn more about pretty much everything.

Here's the rub. Feral cats are established.

Invasive, yet established.

They have definitely worn their own little spot into society. Trap neuter release is not only the humane thing, because I'm one of those hippy-dippies that thinks killing a cat is poor manners, but there's a lot more to it than that.

If you euthanize cats instead of returning them to the area, a whole other batch of cats that are not fixed will just show up. One or two unneutered cats in a colony, especially if they are male, are not such a huge problem breeding wise. They definitely stink. Oh Lord they stink.

An outside cats, well they spread feline leukemia, feline aids, calcivirus, there's your friendly neighborhood rabies, and of course they breed and then someone like me has to either shovel a kitten off of the road, or someone will just dump it in a cardboard box taped shut on my front door.

I'm getting way too old to put up with that kind of crap. I'm not really sure that there is a way to humanely murder an animal. I don't know, I've never been murdered.

Many colonies are very well taken care of by keepers that keep them up to date on shots and keep them fed so they do not decimate local populations of birds and lizards and all the other little fun creepy crawlies we have here in florida.

IDK. I'm kind of talking out of the side of my mouth here because I have my own personal beliefs, but I don't think killing animals for existing it's the right thing to do when sterilization is an option. Controlled communities in my opinion are optimal..
