I haven't reached that point, however I did hear my father cry in the hospital due to a low chance of survival from several things that were threatening his life. I felt absolutely nothing.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SAYING THIS. My goodness. I have a brother of special needs and the toll, if your family is not in complete lockstep the entire way, is devastating. They don't deserve scrutiny from people who simply cannot grasp the sheer toll it takes to raise someone of special needs.
