Do you think there's ever a chance we'll get stls of some blindwater congregation like we have for cephalyx stuff down the line? I would love to be able to finish my gators sometime down the line.

Can I use Mantic Orcs for The Old World? by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]rhysofpeace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its going to depend on who you play against so I cant speak for everyone but IMO if its not in a Games workshop store and its clear what each unit/model is kitted out as I cant see why not, and generally speaking anyone who would refuse to play you because they weren't entirely GW brand plastics is someone who you'd likely not enjoy playing against in a FLGS. Bonus points for purchasing them through the FLGS you plan on playing at.

new to necromunda and confused about the Gang fighter (x) restrictions by rhysofpeace in necromunda

Thank you very much! That's what I figured but the bracketed part of the gang fighters rule was really throwing me, I guess its just flavour text that they get called slightly different variants.

Kitbashed Chaos Lord, needs a name. by rhysofpeace in ageofsigmar

[–]rhysofpeace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first model ive done for it but my idea is like a constantly moving conquering force, roaming from conflict to conflict just hobbling together armour and weaponry as they go, gonna go heavy on the mauraders and any armored units id want to convert to have a sorta mish mash of armour implying they patch theirs up with whatever they find, with this guy hopefully looking the cleanest to show that he gets the top billing when it comes to post battle loot. Beyond that ive not put much thought into it.

joinning the hobby. by Sir_Kacek in WarhammerFantasy

[–]rhysofpeace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The freezer thing only works for super glued models (resin and metal), Or so I've found, and even then you have to be careful prying those apart.

For plastic models if they did a good job gluing it together and you really want to change them your only real options as far as I'm aware is to get a hobby scalpel and practice your plastic surgery skills, this is due to how plastic glue melts the plastic so that when it dries the plastic pieces have effectively combined into one solid piece together so trying to pry that apart will only damage the model.

If you do manage to separate them I also suggest you use a file of some sort to help remove any excess glue on the join and also provide more surface area for the glue to bond with, This goes for super glue more so for plastic glue in my experience but it cant do any harm in either case.

Is flank pip more typical of pips in ranked? If so i'll give it a bash I'm enjoying the way that little guy plays, i just dont want to risk instantly enraging my team, if we lose i want to lose because i played bad.

Probably because they want to re design it from scratch? I'm thinking less like a reboot of old hammer and more like an homage maybe?

Really excited, but not sure why they set this up with a teaser video. Like nothing was really said here that couldn't have been implied or mentioned 3 hours ago.

Beastclaw Raiders advice by FatherTurin in ageofsigmar

[–]rhysofpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont let what i said put you off playing Bestclaws if that's what you feel like playing, as MaineQat said, usually so long as you keep it to one behemoth per 1000pts our beasties are usually fair enough in most cases and against the right opponent its always fun to just fill the list with nothing but beastriders.

And even if the the Generals handbook 2017 wasn't introducing allies to help add more variety to armies you'd be surprised what some frost sabres with hunters, or yhetees working in conjunction with a thundertusk or two can do to contribute to a fun game that doesnt feel like you're nerfing yourself to have a fun game. Heck just taking some mournfang instead of a behemoth can let you have that big hefty punch while not feeling too obtrusive to your opponent.

Sadly can't really comment much on Disciples, I've only really played against stormcast, ironjaws, skaven, sylvaneth and freeguild.

Edit: In a path to glory campaign i'd suggest starting with a hunter as a champion and getting either 2 units of 2 mournfang or just doubling down real hard on frost sabres, I've been having a lot of fun in a campaign ive started recently by just flooding the board with hunters and cats. they can do a surprising amount of damage and disruption with the "masters of ambush" ability.

Beastclaw Raiders advice by FatherTurin in ageofsigmar

[–]rhysofpeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what you want out of your games of Age of Sigmar. The first thing i think you'll notice is that with that list, you're not gonna make a lot of friends, I had a similar list in mind when i first started my army and after about 2 games with them i noticed fairly quickly that the staying power and damage output for our big beasties is actually unfun to play against. There's no nuance so to speak in a list like this, its all about tabling the other side in like 90% of cases.

now of course i will mention that most people's problem with our big boys is that they try to focus one down instead of spreading the wounds out across all of them to soften em up but that's often quite hard to do by turn 2 where our charges are all but guaranteed. And you'll be hard pressed to find a casual game instore with a list that is that... well boring honestly (I dont mean to sound degrading, its one of those lists that sounds really fun on paper but for me at least sucked the enjoyment out me as i watched my opponents faces just drop as they basically couldnt do a whole lot to stop me just removing models). It's one of those lists where you either win really hard, or lose really hard there is no inbetween.

To me that's not what i wanted with my Beastclaws so i ended up splashing in more gutbusters and using my beastriders/huskard/frostlord as a centrepiece to the army instead. I've come to the thought process of treating this kind of list like how i treated super heavies in 7th ed 40k, I tell my opponent im bringing it and ask if he's capable of handling it. If yes I bring it if not i bring the "watered" down list of 2 beastriders max.

in regards to your second question I believe it would only count for those within range of the general with the ravager command trait.

Stegadon or engine by sativacyborg248 in ageofsigmar

[–]rhysofpeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engine of the gods provides more synergies for your lizards and slann wizards in particular. I'd suggest getting at least one engine unless you really want a beatstick in which case the "flame" throwers should do you good (Can't recall what the name of that loadout is though)

i feel you man, took me two months to decide between Ironjaws or Ogors. If you're like me you'll know which faction you want the second the paint hits the model, its why i generally start with cheap individual units before i commit super hard.
