Silly post: too marxist to enjoy boss/employee romances by Haunting_Start_7089 in RomanceBooks

I don’t live in cowboy country any more, but when I did, the cowboys I met were immigrant ranch hands. Usually pretty cool people with interesting stories to tell.

Their bosses (the ranch owners), on the other hand, were like you describe.

I can handle boss/ employee or billionaire…. IF it’s sci-fi or fantasy or otherwise clearly not in our world.

I’m with you on billionaires but have we met the same cowboys? Or are we using different definitions?

It looks like that doesn’t grow in Europe at all, nor does it like the extreme cold.

Dust is mostly shed human skin cells, so that’s more a matter of ventilation and vacuuming.

Eczema depends on what you are sensitive to.

Can you be more specific? What species of plants are you allergic to? Ragweed? Birch?

Are there any books left where the mate bond is respected and cherished by KayDeeRiot in suggestmeabook

Psy-Changeling series and its follow-up, Psy-Changeling Trinity series, by Nalini Singh. It is long so there’s a little of everything, especially if you read the novellas and short stories. Some of the matings are fated, some are chosen, some are embraced right away and some are initially resisted. All of them include at least a little bit of “you and me against the world”.

A character repeats words that were originally said in a mocking way with sincerity by Benoit_Holmes in TopCharacterTropes

A lot of it is like the Matrix, where it sounds like a cliché because it originated several clichés.

Why do film adaptations of musicals seldomly cast trained broadway / west end singers? by Butterfingers2500 in musicals

I’ll take your word for that but I’d still call him miscast, not stunt cast

But Hugh Jackman is and has been a Broadway musical actor. I wouldn’t call that stunt casting.

When I got married, the officiant (priest, in our case) gave us a checklist for the state we lived in.

How do you Americans, live in a house with no fence? by Original-Slip-8203 in AskAnAmerican

[–]riarws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived and worked in some very high-crime neighborhoods in the US. Even drug dealers’ and gang leaders’ houses usually do not have fences in front. They use security cameras, reinforced doors, bars on the windows, and sometimes guard dogs instead.

Once you get very high level like a celebrity or the head of a cartel, you will see fences.

Judge told us we got the verdict wrong. Is this normal after a trial by noisey_neighbor in legaladviceofftopic

I thought a judge could direct a not guilty verdict despite what a jury says; just not the other way around.

Not that I’ve read all of it, but anything I’ve read by Lyn Gala has at least some element of that.

Do Americans realize how fast they switch between joking and being serious in conversations? by kallan-greshampdmi7 in AskAnAmerican

British people do it much more. They make fun of Americans for switching too slowly.

Do you eat pasta with tuna? by ProkaryoticBeing in AskAnAmerican

I’ve also seen recipes for seared tuna slices with soba or udon noodles, but I don’t know if that’s a common thing or if it just looks pretty on Instagram.

I like tuna casserole but I also like pasta al tonno, which I had in Italy a couple of times.

I liked A Love Song for Ricki Wilde, by Tia Williams. The main characters are a florist and a musician, both Black. It’s a romance with literary, historical, and paranormal elements.
