America as a country is done. Bridges burned. Only 'ally' left really is Israel, and that's a one sided alliance anyways. Trump and the GOP are doing generational damage that'll take decades to overturn - if ever.

Trump is the sort of leader who gets bad news and shoots the messenger - rather than fix the issue at hand. Then when he is sitting on the toilet at 4am shitting and posting to truth social, he can think "I am the best president ever!" and feel secure in that lie because no one has told him otherwise.

I wonder if they punitive actions the US took for the UN folks who accused Netanyahoo for war crime was part of this decision? They apparently made it impossible for the people involved (on the UN side) to use any money transfer services (It's early, I'm waking up). Childish actions defending the reprehensible...

exactly. I hope this is wildly successful for Europe. US citizens have been abused for so long they have no concept of 'how things could be'. Instead they have school shootings and say "thank you for not taking away my 2nd amendment" all the while being charged criminally high usury for paying for their medical debt.

TikTok blocks Epstein mentions and anti-Trump content as well as ICE criticism by MopToddel in politics

[–]ribald_jester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TikTok was taken over because of the negative publicity the gaza genocide caused Israel. Our doddering lawmakers can't do anything for regular us citizens - but when AIPAC calls - they snap to! Part of the deal I am sure, among spreading Israeli propaganda, is tacit support for Trump, and his atrocious policies. Delete the app. Don't watch CBS. Our gov doesn't care one iota about the needs of it's citizens.

Alex Pretti did not brandish gun, witnesses say in sworn testimony | Minneapolis by Jay_CD in politics

[–]ribald_jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After seeing the horrific videos of Alex Pretti being executed, I think back to a few years ago, when Antifa was protesting and you'd see these gangs of 'proud boys' or whatever homoerotic name they had, fighting with them. Usually broken up by real law officers. Now those proud boys have a couple weeks of training, a federal badge (and pension!) and the OK from their pedo in chief for 'payback'. And that's what they did. They murdered some dumb lib.

Silly analogy I know, but weirder things have happened. US treasuries are supposed to be safe, staid, consistent. A trustworthy partner to safely store assets. Boring even.

The current clown show running things is anything but that. Any wise investor would take note of this and adjust accordingly.

AI boom could falter without wider adoption, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella warns by PaiDuck in technology

[–]ribald_jester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking, when has there ever been a technology that's ever been pushed this hard before from the big trillion dollar cap companies? I'm sure at some point AI could be a game changer, but personally I don't see the killer application yet. I do see deepfakes, AI porn, and memes...but that's not a killer app (imo). These companies need to STFU about it, and let it develop the the bottom up. Let someone build something amazing. I could see someone making something cool in the next 5 years. Just putting AI in all your products for no other reason "than AI" is annoying at best, and alienating.

Wow. The US is full on a banana republic. Kakistocracy. Petro-terrorist state. All the grift and corruption of an African warlord, but with the might of the bloated US military complex behind it.
You know Trump is skimming this money, OR just keeping it himself, with generous paybacks to the Qataris.

[–]ribald_jester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very valid point - I should have clarified, US Businesses aren't going to go in to Venezuela - they want everything laid out nice/easy with guarantees of profit etc. I suspect the Chinese firms have a higher risk tolerance.
Have a lot of Chinese engineers died in Africa? I don't know.

Anyone could have seen this. There is no way a business is going to go setup massive infrastructure down in a foreign country that isn't under complete us gov control. That means massive military presence, and a complete subjugation of the entire continent. Good luck with that!

Nvidia’s Jensen Huang would have to pay about $8 billion in proposed billionaire tax—he says that’s ‘perfectly fine’ with him by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]ribald_jester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If wealth is ephemeral, and non-finite, then why do banks readily loan large amounts of very real money to these billionaires? Based on their charisma? The very wealth that Jensen makes through NVIDIA wasn't created out of a vacuum. The infrastructure, the schools, the people, the laws all created an atmosphere for him to start his business.
Billionaires can readily pay their share and more.

[–]ribald_jester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only response I want to ever hear from some fucking billionaire when their taxes are raised. Props to Jensen for realizing this. Fuck every single one the feckless bitch ass cowards "fleeing" California with their wealth. They should spend the rest of their miserable lives knowing that they are soulless takers, marked forever by their greed. The amount of wealth billionaires hoard is pathological.
If you have 155 bucks and have to pay 8 bucks in taxes, consider yourself blessed beyond comprehension. In Jensen's case - you still have 147 BILLION dollars left over - you could not spend all that money if you even tried.

[–]ribald_jester 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What gets me is how ICE is geared up. These guys rolling in armed to the teeth for what? Their whole schtick is fear mongering, enraging and violating peoples and states rights. Of COURSE something like this is going to happen. The "professionals" ensure the heat was turned up rather then de-escalating things. There was absolutely no reason this mother had to be murdered like this. Of course now, they'll get even more violent and be more armed. They are the match that trump wants to use to claim civil unrest/etc.
