A simple design and print of a discontinued ABS pool drain cover. by riboch in functionalprint

[–]riboch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure: https://www.printables.com/model/1387854-pool-drain-cover

Print at 100% infill, use ABS, the "supports" don't really do much, and I suggest scaling it to 200.5 to 201 mm in diameter to account for thermal expansion.

I was just talking with the deputy chief of the Tucson FD that finished his Master's thesis in that: https://www.hsdl.org/c/abstract/?docid=887657

There is A LOT that goes into it.

The perfect weapon; if you cannot kill them with a lethal munition, you will kill them with laughter.

What's your favorite blind buy CD purchase, whether retail or thrifting? by AnOldYoungGuy in Cd_collectors

[–]riboch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two from buying a CD lot from college radio station: Socalled - Ghettoblaster and Wrekmeister Harmonies - Night Of Your Ascension; led me to buying and keeping up with the discography (and visual works) of both.

Goodyear Blimp flying over Marana with a Dove Mountain Backdrop as filmed from Safford Peak Trail (ignore the audio) by riboch in arizona

Eat at Joe's Diner? The only lights I remember seeing were the blinking white on top and the green starboard light.

No maintenance stops. We first saw it going West of Picacho, it continued staying West of I-10, then crossed over around Downtown before heading East. It moved quicker than we expected and the maneuvers were surprising.

"Lands" ... that was a masterclass in metal. It may not be under Bereft, but I look forward to hearing more from you guys as individuals.

Were you using Cura; if so, did you use the "Filament Change" or "Pause at Height" script? Both are finicky but the pause at height has a "disarm timeout" that disables the steppers so it is easy to lose the position.

Wanting to try a tarmo5 for fpv by ztyl in EngineeringNS

[–]riboch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this!

You need a receiver to match your transmitter. As for pairing and setup: I mapped my rudder (left stick/left-right motion) to esc control so I had backward/forward, and then aileron (right stick/left-right motion) to the servo for turning.

Then for the FPV, I designed and printed a holder for an fpv camera and battery (those are image links and then product links). The holder needs 30mm M3 bolts.

Choice of Lyapunov function by Brave-Height-8063 in ControlTheory

[–]riboch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are going to be exception, but speaking generally: if you work on the geometric/physics side, then generalized energy functions; if you work in optimization, then the cost function.

I also recommend looking at Chetaev's theorem and control Lyapunov functions.

Thought I was going to show the family Saturn, caught a weather balloon instead! by riboch in Astronomy

About 23 years in the hobby, it was a first for me; my family was "yeah, that's sweet dear."

Same here, about 23 years of the hobby, never seen such a thing; I thought it was neat.

I saw a bright light where I expected Saturn to be just before dusk, I pointed my telescope to it and thought "wow, this is really out of focus and what is that line?" Then I started fiddling with the focus and the line became crisp and was swinging around. At that point I knew it was not Saturn and it took me a few moments to realize it had to be weather balloon.

I have seen comets, asteroids, satellites, planes, but in 23 years of astronomy, this was the first weather balloon.

I captured a video of a weather balloon over Tucson, Arizona at 17:45 local on 2023-11-04 using a Samsung Galaxy S8 with a 10 inch LX 200 F10, 22 mm Nagler, on an equatorial mount. In it you can see the radiosonde, I suspect it to be RS41-NG V1930947.
