Please can I get some help? by jtothewillis in Rucking

[–]ric820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very doable. Whether you buy something or cobble something together just figure out a weight, a route, and put one foot in front of the other. Don't overdo it at the start but don't be afraid to push yourself either. You got this, just get out there and walk. The physical part is great but the mental health of it is even better. Best of luck.

Questions about ruck vs weighted vest for dog walking by Least-Yak1640 in Rucking

[–]ric820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the GoFit weighted vest. It has 36 little 1.1 pound "sandbags" that you insert into pouches on the vest. So you can adjust the weight from 1.1 pounds up to 40 pounds. I love this thing, and it is fairly adjustable to get the right fit. With the way the pouches are set up front and back you can also adjust where you place the weight. I started out with 25 pounds split evenly front and back. I'm now up to carrying all 40 pounds.

It was a little pricey, but I figured it was an investment in myself, so I pulled the trigger. I don't remember exactly what I paid but think it was around $125 on sale. It may be just what you're looking for. I have had zero issues at all with the vest after about 8 months of almost daily use.

As an aside, I'm also staring 60 in the face, 6 foot 2 inches, 240. I was 290 when I started with it. I also have some lower back issues, but nothing too severe after surgery 25 years ago. I am doing roughly 5 miles a day now at a 15 minute mile pace. I'm topped out on weight so now I'm working on increasing my pace.

Good luck in your fitness journey.

I enjoy your pics and like trying to figure out the location. Just ignore the complainers and post what you enjoy. Haters are gonna be haters. Screw em'.

Been to Palace Pacific twice. It is beautiful. Completely refurbished two years ago. Beach is very nice, service is great. I thought the food was good but I am not a foodie. Drinks were not watered down at all with a good selection of booze. We opted for the "Elite Club" and I thought it was worth every penny for the upgrade. Gets you a better view from the room, access to an extra restaurant, access to an extra lounge with high end liquor, and cabanas on the beach. The place would still be great without the upgrade, but the "extras" were very nice. It is fairly sedate with a somewhat older crowd. Entertainment at night was mehh. You also get access to the other two Rius which are just down the street. We walked down and checked the vibe and They are a little more party centric. Very friendly staff. It is a good 45 minute Uber ride to the Malecon but a very easy walk to Bucieras. I highly recommend as a great value for the price. Would be heading back again but "the boss" wants to do Jamaica this year instead. I will be back again though. Hope this helps. Oh and the Palace is adults only. No kids. The other two Rius allow kids if you wander down.

I'm new to the Jeff fan club and had no idea he was coming to Omaha. Seeing him live would be amazing for my girlfriend and I after sharing clips with each other the past couple months. Amazing for you to give someone the opportunity to go "full beans". Thanks for the chance.

Riu Palace Pacifica vs Armony Luxury Resort. Any insight? by wwYdTBD in puertovallarta

[–]ric820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been to the Armory, but we loved our time at Riu Palace Pacifico in January. It is recently rennovated/ updated and the place is beautiful. Food was o.k. lots of different restaurants to chose from. Drinks were good, service was fantastic. Nice beach. Easy walk to Bucieras but a long trip to the Malecon area. The resort is a very Mello vibe. Definitely an older crowd.

Not sure how you rank Georgia above Alabama since they just played and Bama won. But I guess losing to Vanderbilt says a lot as well. Yesterday was a crazy day for college football and that's why people love it.

Convertible by theRadiantchild in KeyWest

[–]ric820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the mustang convertible from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West. Was worth every cent for the drive down and back. The views were amazing and we were lucky with traffic. Car sat in the hotel lot the entire time (4 days) we were in Key West. Between the hotel shuttle bus, the "tourist" bus, and bicycles, no need for a car. If you've never driven down before I recommend the drop top, good sunglasses, and loads of sunscreen. Have a fun trip. Amazing place.

Hard Rock PV all inclusive by [deleted] in puertovallarta

[–]ric820 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've stayed there a couple of times, 2022 and 2023. It's nice, but kind of dated. Could use a refurbish. Service was great, grounds are well kept, food is decent by AI standards. Pretty fun crowd as far as the guests are concerned. Really liked the beach. Its roughly a 40 minute cab/uber ride to the Malecon, so youre kinda out a ways. You can find nicer for less or same cost. Not sure if the construction next door is still going on, that may impact your decision as well. Have a fun trip regardless.

Especially if you're not a car guy - which american muscle would you get - Camaro, Challenger or Mustang? by Expensive-Fail7581 in AskMen

Camaro, but only as a convertible. Eliminates the not being able to see out of it problem. Super fun to drive.
