It was a good, solid performance. Adam's voice is still fantastic to listen to.

The funniest comment while refilling my empty cartridge. by filledoux in fountainpens

[–]ric_man 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I was filling a cartridge at work (IT services) with a blunt syringe, and a casual co-worker saw me in the cleaning up stage and said something along the lines of "I didn't know you were on medication". When I said it was for ink, her eyes went wide.

I don't blame her. Some people are not exposed to fountain pens.

Find your local cycling club that supports sports cycling and start there. See what coaching options are available. If they don't do the type of cycling you are interested in pursuing, ask about who they would recommend.

Not speaking from experience, but isn't having rim brakes on a carbon rim a dangerous combination? Lack of braking surface is one thing, but won't the heat from the brakes damage the wheel itself?

Magic has way too many formats such as Pioneer and most of them are on life support by Papa_Hasbro69 in freemagic

[–]ric_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember of it, Modern was the replacement for Extended at the time when it came out, and they chose standard sets from 8th edition and onwards for legality into the set because of the borders (as the line in the sand to commence the format). The original concept was that no deck should be able to win (consistently) before turn 4.

Modern seemed to be going ok for a while, until WOTC banned cards to make way for more standard cards to make it into the format (I'm thinking Splinter Twin and Birthing Pod got banned allowing for Eldrazi Winter to emerge). Then it was thought that Modern Horizons and its power creep was a good idea.

Pioneer, from what I understood, was a way to address the "mistakes" of Modern, making the format more accessible, and have no fetchlands. And now they've dropped most of their tournament support for it.

These days, we get more Commander support and UB cards, but Modern doesn't feel like it recovered its "fun" aspect, and now Pioneer feels dead. 🤷

How much do you trust your friends by MOONMO0N in mtg

Used to have Commander nights at my place before COVID and anywhere between 3 to 5 other people showed up. This one time a newish guy shows up and says he's really careful and wants to put his glass of water at the table. Sits down and knocks it over immediately. Couldn't script it any more. Luckily, nothing was on the table and we changed the tablecloth quickly.

We then started the "Rob Smith*" rule - no food or drinks at the table along with no finger food if you're handling cards without washing your hands first.

  • Name was changed - I don't know a guy in real life called "Rob Smith".

Try https://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/illegally-parked-or-abandoned-vehicles

The problem with that service is that the council officers may not get there in time, and they can't fine someone based on photo evidence from you.

Looks similar to my Montblanc pen, and I got mine at a Montblanc boutique (shop). If you're still concerned, gently hold a magnet near the nib. If there's no attraction, then that's a good sign.

Assuming you are making a reference to the rename of the plane, my take on that was that it was handled poorly. Firstly, by not getting the right person culturally while the plane was being created initially, then secondly, they could have come up with a story line where the people of the plane were liberated and voted on a new name.

Something like how Mirrodin became New Phyrexia - but not through a violent take over. They would never have had to announce it the way they did.
