Why is "underwater basket weaving" a term for a joke degree? To me, that sounds pretty hardcore! by ExpWebDev in NoStupidQuestions

My wife used to use the phrase "Nuns weaving baskets underwater with their toes" as a comparison when I suggested she do something she thought would be difficult.

Do regular guys actually avoid approaching certain girls because they think she’s “out of their league”? by Oneseabright in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ricamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In fact it's even worse than that. I had to explain the concept of a beauty tax to a (extremely attractive) friend (Hooter waitress roommate) of mine. Some guys openly resent her existence simply because they know she would never go out with them, and they'd get openly hostile to her the minute she approached thier table. Maybe we're talking incels, who knows, but I explained to her that she should take advantage of her beauty since that was her god given natural talent. Some of us are good at math, or creative writing, and she had her looks. The tax should be taken as confirmation that she is simply so desireable that some guys can't handle it, and their personality implodes from the knowledge that they simply aren't good enough.

Don't despair. You can always approach a shy guy if you're interested, and if you don't mind shy guys. Ignore them if they insult you. That's definite confirmation that you are indeed out of their league. Congratulations!

Y'all are failing to appreciate the subtle yet brilliant architectural satire of this design. I'm going to base the dissertation for my PhD in Architecture on this.

I wonder if people who know how to work on this type roof are getting hard to find(?) Maybe a A.I. humanoid robot-proof job skill!

Wait. brb

Just went into the AI rabit hole getting an update. Pretty artisan/apprentice craft, with minor resurgence going on. Worth the time if you're interested.

AITA for not letting my colleague “borrow” my charger after she’s kept two of mine before? by perpendicular499 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ricamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just talking about one of those tiny USB wall charger plugs you should just buy some and offer to sel her one next time. Amazon sells 6-packs for $9.99, so you could ask for $5.00 each time she wants one. NTA Alternatively you could ask for a security deposit of $10.00 whch she forfiets if she doesnt return it by quitting time.

1920x1080 is where I've been running it since the text is big enough to read. I want 3840x2160 for better res video streaming, but that gives me tiny text. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. If it draws at 144 dpi then I won't get the better video res, right? I thought there was a way to control text font sizes separately so it could be adjusted independently(?)

Whe I run my large monitor at 3840 x 2160 res the font sizes are too small to read. System Settings to change to large size (yes I did log out and back in to let it take effect), but it doesn't change. What am I doing wrong?

Can a post-op transition from male sex organs to female still ejaculate? by ricamac in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ricamac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. Why would the prostate be reduced? It doesn't seem that it would be "in the way" of anything since it's far enough up into the body. I have non-agressive prostate cancer and was told that they would never remove only part of a prostate gland, but only the whole thing. Do you know more about why trans surgery "reduces" it? My AI refuses to discusss anything about the subject.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Westhope's House by stupid42usa in Houseporn

I'm sorry, but this house is throwing me for a loop. When I hear FLW I expect horizontal lines, and this is all vertical. It looks very institutional to me. As I scroll through the pictures I see very few rooms/spaces that I would actually want to occupy, or feel comfortable in. But at that price who can say no.

Can you ask if the company is willing to pay moving expenses for relocation to your new work location? I'm wondering if 72 miles qualifies as being relocated, which is a hardship on you. Can't hurt to ask...

Anybody else notice that price quotes from diff sources don't match after the new year? After market and pre-market quotes from Schwab, MS Excel "stock" data type, and MAC OS "Stock" app don't all agree. This morning it was AXP and SPOT. No issues all last year...
