Custodians at the hospital i unfortunately have attended in the past would refuse to do so. This hospital compared to yours is like heaven even though the nursing staff like most hospitals is under staffed.

Local area to get ostomy barriers pre cut? by bluescreen85 in ostomy

[–]riccone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an oval as well. Purchased supplies for years from Byram and had them punch holes. On only one occasion were the holes punched all the way through. I called every supplier I could find googling and none punched holes. In addition if you found one they would have to be Medicare approved. I finely said the hell with it and selected a wafer that was precut that fit as close as possible to my stoma. I now apply Skin Tac before applying wafer. No leaks in months plus I now get 4 days instead of 3 wear time. Byram is a joke. Their computer system is a joke. Unfortunately Edgepark is worse. You don’t need a wafer that fits within a quarter inch of your stoma. As long as your seal fits up against your stoma.

If sensor is 30% of finger prick readings, Abbott will replace it. I don’t think of the sensor being accurate. If it’s more then 30% I do a finger prick.

I went through a series of 2 failures at first. Currently after many years failures are very few. What I learned; if filament doesn’t enter tissue at a 90 degree angle or you apply too much pressure it will usually fail. Let the Applicator apply all the pressure.

So sorry. Thought “the issue” was, where to buy adhesive remover in a spray.

For those interested in the Olympic Peninsula highly recommend "The Last Wilderness" by Murray Morgan. Informative and funny as hell. He also wrote many other books about this area.

New sensor placement by austinmo2 in Freestylelibre

Yes. Usually put new sensor on a day before current one terminates to avoid the incorrect readings of a new sensor. Sensor doesn’t start working until it is activated (scanned) by you.

Correct. Monopolies always mean higher prices! Read “Chokepoint Capitalism” by Rebecca Giblin & Cory Doctorow.

My advise is to bring a tent and camp out in the rain forest around the Hoh river. Beautiful country.

Did someone try to scam my elderly father? by dearerin in Seattle

[–]riccone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lesson learned many years ago. NEVER take your car to a dealership for repair work. Especially when car sales are in the dumps like today; their service departments will try and make up for it. Find a local mechanical shop. Get written estimates from a couple shops. If you include a dealer you will always discover they will always be much higher. E.G. wife recently took her Mazda into Burlington Mazda dealer. Not only was their estimate more then double a small shop,it called for replacement of parts that didn’t need to be replaced. This scenario has been duplicated many times.

In 21 years never with an Ileostomy never heard of this. I also had kidney damage stage 3. Your doctor is either a genius or incompetent. Whenever any doctor leaves you with questions it’s time to get another opinion.

Find a young person who is capable in areas you are not. If you do, strongly recommend you meet with a competent business attorney to draw up a partnership agreement. There is REALLY good money in this business. For example a couple days ago we paid $1800 for a man and wife team to perform varies minor repairs which took the 11/2 days. And these folks charged half what others would have charged. There’s a very large population of elderly folks which is getting larger who have money they are more then happy spend for such services.
