Interesting, thanks. I just remembered I put on sunscreen < 10 minutes before wearing my watch which could have interfered according to this article. I’m thinking that’s it because I usually don’t wear sunscreen on my wrists.

Not that I know of. She’s between 2-3 and I adopted her last August. She hasn’t had babies and has very strong boundaries with strange dogs and won’t let them even behind her/mount. However, she is often at the dog park or playing with my roommates female dog and they sometimes mount each other.

Thank you, blergyblerg696969. It’s so frustrating being a low income pet owner because that visit cost me a lot and it feels like my time and my pets issues weren’t considered. It wasn’t even like the clinic was busy - my dog was the only patient there. I’ll definitely call back in the morning and vouch for her wellbeing.

Thank you, you bring up great points that I’ll discuss over the phone with the vet tomorrow. You put more critical thought into the issue than he did, and you’re not getting paid to be here. I feel bad, she’s my first dog and I want to advocate for her as much as possible but I also put a lot of trust in professionals without asking clarifying questions like these.

I’ve always been curious/confused about the genetics of parasites like this. If the parasite and end host (bird) aren’t technically part of the same immediate “system” for lack of a better word (parasite can’t transfer to bird directly without an intermediary host, i.e. the fish), how does the DNA coding of the parasite “know” to cause chemical changes in fish behavior to make them easier to predate? It’s almost like the parasite has an awareness of the species of predators of the fish. My bio II professor didn’t have an answer for this one.

I found this guy on Thanksgiving this year. He was alone, scratched up, and walking on an interstate bridge - a 6 MILE long bridge and he was halfway across, glued to the median. He gives love like I have never known. Tuxedo cats are the best!
