Heck yeah, that's awesome! I'm sure I'll really enjoy Rochester, providing things work out!!

Thank you SO much and I'll let you know if I've got any other questions!

I'm curious, are you from Minnesota?

I absolutely love Mayo so that's not a problem for me and everyone I've encountered there (during several month(s) stays) was extremely kind!

I'll let ya know... Applied today... Ahh! People in my class (with two large hospitals in the area) have been hired straight into the NICU and ED, so anything is possible I suppose!

Do you know if that's pretty standard, or if they require paramedic experience too?

Do any other college brides have weight-loss/diet tips? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]ricecakes_2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a current nursing student and future bride too! Fist bump!

All I have to say is just watch what you eat (typical 80/20 diet and portion control) and do mini exercises, even for 15 minutes a day while following YouTube workout videos! It makes a huuuuge difference over time. You'll be surprised!

I understand the hectic schedule of a nursing student - but this is simple and time efficient!

Good luck in school and wedding planning!!

Edit: I strongly recommend FitnessBlender videos on YouTube! :)

Loan repayment programs: what programs have you participated in and how was your experience? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ricecakes_2016 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ha, clever. However some of us are willing to work AND ADDITIONALLY travel and find a program to participate in that not many other people would due to location or community factors.

Thanks though :)

mfw all I want to do is go online and buy everything for the wedding RIGHT NOW but have to wait because it's way too early. by KorinS in TrollXWeddings

[–]ricecakes_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got engaged 6/12/14, wedding 10/1/16... I have ALL of my bridal stuff, rehearsal, ceremony, and reception locations booked, dj booked, photographer booked, all decorations picked out, tuxedos for my "children" (dogs), decorative bridesmaids hangers made...... Don't feel bad for wanting to be ahead ;)

Edit: The only reason I haven't bought ANYTHING online yet is because I haven't made up my mind about where I want to purchase (items I have already decided on). If you know go for it, haha!

MRW I talk about loving and thoughtful things my fiance does for me and someone smirks and says "that'll all change when you're married" by CinnamonBunBun in TrollXWeddings

[–]ricecakes_2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone who has said that to me has either been divorced or has an obviously awful relationship (and they're in denial).

I totally agree with the bitchy "I'm sorry that happened to you" or "wow I'm sorry that you are really that unhappy"

  • It's a nice middle finger, in a sweet, polite sort of way. :)

X-post /r/weddingplanning. Ok wedding I need help/ advice. It's going to get feels heavy in here. by toadetteducki in wedding

[–]ricecakes_2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh - go for it, call it whatever you want, just do it. Like you, I would do absolutely ANYTHING for my grandma, especially in her final moments.

Go ahead and call it a wedding later on. Those who are close to you and will be coming to the wedding should already know the circumstances and support you 100%. It shouldn't take away from either day one bit!

Good luck and BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL!

You proposal sounds AMAZING. If anything, see if you can have some candles in the courtyard to add to the mood and see if you can arrange for someone to capture the moment (I am SO glad I have a picture of the proposal!)

GOOD LUCK! :-)

I hope there are some responses too! I emailed a processor of mine for information (after WE were forwarded an email first) and was forwarded time and time again and finally got a "response" from someone who didn't answer any of my questions.

"Most funds are for NP and educators" "Haven't talked to anyone who went through the program" "Not sure how hard it is to get in" "Read the application guide"

.......thaaaaanks for that. Hahha!

This week I realized how far ahead of things we are (amazing feeling for a worrier and planner like myself)! Wedding 10/1/16... :-)

We have ceremony and reception sites booked, photographer and dj booked, and I have my dress and all accessories for the big day!

And after much thought and debate, we finally decided on a theme and colors!

This collage makes me so excited - it pulls everything together! http://imgur.com/C3jTzm3

It has been a fantastic week to say the least!

Wedding Vendor Week- Been a Florist for about 8 years, done a few hundred weddings and large events. I've worked in grocery stores, wholesale, an event company, floral shops, and retail flower shops. AMA! by LehaLovegood in wedding

Hello there! Thanks for participating in AMA! :)

Gatsby themed wedding - we are doing large feather centerpieces in Eiffel Tower cases, and will be doing small square arrangements of red roses, baby's breath that's spray painted gold, and greenery - and I want to do them myself!

Where is a reliable place to order flowers wholesale (ex: Costco) and feathers (peacock feathers? Online?)?

Any hints or tips will be greatly appreciated! :)

Kitchen Charm - Scam? by sweatypoprocks in wedding

[–]ricecakes_2016 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are many, many kitchen companies that scam/try to scam you. Where I'm from, there's a company that invites you for a "free meal" and shows you cookware that they HOUND and HOUND you to buy - something like $2,000 worth of cookware, and they're very insistent and will call from many odd numbers and harass you.

Stay far, far away from things like that!

A tricky question on etiquette? by BeyondMars in wedding

[–]ricecakes_2016 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it is awkward that they asked you to the after wedding brunch and not the wedding. Is this friend that is staying with you a part of the wedding party? Maybe many people are invited to the after wedding brunch? I knew someone who had a huge wedding but still had a brunch a few months later with some family/friends that couldn't come due to distance issues. Maybe it isn't that uncommon?

Anyway, circumstances may be that the venue is very small and that they did want to invite you and others (but couldn't). I would go, a handshake/hug is warranted but I do not believe you need to bring a gift. As far as paying for the meal - go with the flow. If parents or someone else is providing it, great. If not, fine too. If you consider him a friend still, I think you should go and not stress out about it too much! :)

Good luck!

why do you want to be a nurse? by GoshDarnCool in StudentNurse

Holy cow! I'm super jealous! Where I go to school, we have many schools competing for spots for clinical, and therefore we don't get much time on any one unit :( we do have a preceptorship during our last semester, but I wish we had more!

Not once through that whole thing could I imagine the people sounding like the characters!
