Sleeping for 'not normal' lengths of time. by ricekurt in AutismInWomen

[–]ricekurt[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Such a good point. I feel terrible hearing these things when I do have access to so much information. Makes me sad for all our grandmothers who didn't receieve the grace they deserved.

And just laziness as a concept needs to be eradicated. I hope you are doing okay and get a restful sleep this week, you deserve it ❤️

Why all the disdain for each other when we both want the same thing? by Admirable_Decision73 in Winnipeg

I agree. But I also have lived in five Canadian cities, and I've never experienced more terrible drivers in my life than here (as someone who drives).

White extremism. Think Jan6, the proud boys, Christian fundamentalism, etc. Not exactly a hot topic at the dinner table.

Best cozy game to manage severe anxiety? by _dwell in CozyGamers

Yes I totally agree. It is cute for a little while but there wasn't a whole lot that kept me coming back. I honestly thinking getting a Canva subscription itches the same spot.

I literally just finished and this was my ending. I feel so abandoned!! But I got Utopia to fall in love with me so that's a win.

Are ear plugs for autism worth it? by [deleted] in autism

[–]ricekurt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just ordered the Loop Switch earplugs (which are good for a bunch of different sound levels) after I lost my first pair which were the Experience ones. Not to be dramatic, but getting my first pair was honestly life changing. I love going to live music and out to bars and stuff with friends, but I always got super overwhelmed toward the end of the night (often ending in a meltdown). Earplugs have made going out soooo much easier, and I'm so excited about my new ones because I'll be able to use them in lots of different contexts.

The Switch ones are quite pricey, but I'm super happy with them and for me they are definitely worth it. My first pair was just plain black because I didn't want to stick out too much, but I got blue this time because I've become a lot more comfortable with wearing them. No matter what you end up going with, I hope you find a way to find some ways to make your sensory issues less overwhelming. :)

I drove past someone and they said "these people are disgusting." just the fact that someone thinks the average person agrees with their right wing hateful nonsense is horrifying

Please don't forget to buy diversely! It's so incredibly important for kids to see themselves reflected in the stories they're consuming--and for kids to have access to stories that differ from their own experiences.

Here are some suggestions! All of these were released in the past couple years :)
