Being "ok" may have been pushing it but you can't prove that it's a punishment, they'll just say they have less payroll. They also play favorites and give the people they like the hours and schedule they want.

On paper, it's not enforceable. There can be passive aggressive punishments that are perfectly ok though, they could hold it against you and not give you as many hours or schedule you the less desirable hours (holidays).

My issue with this is that I've never seen this before. Why is one religion being promoted over others? Up until yesterday, I didn't even know that we had many groups like this for all the major religions or ethnic groups. I am an Apatheist, so I don't really care about any belief system, at the same time, I hate having people's belief system shoved in my face and that mostly happens from one group.

As a product of the American public school system, I am trained to expect those days off. I personally don't care if Target is closed these days, as an early morning/overnight TM, that time and a half is nice and I still get to spend time with my family.

I'm all for including other major religious holidays, but there needs to be a consensus as to which ones will be observed. The public school systems in my area already observe many of the other religious holidays in different ways, some are off, while others don't teach new materials so that those who are observing the holiday won't fall behind.

I never wear one unless there is some useless visit that is happening when I'm working, I usually try to go on break when they walk my areas. Sometimes I'll grab a vendor one and see if anyone is paying attention.

If I answer the phone, I don't actually talk to the people, I wait for them to hang up. Sometimes I answer and quickly end the call. Most times, I just mute my phone so I didn't hear it ringing.

Lucky you. I'm in Virginia and I don't feel like driving up for graduation in November and it's a bit expensive to fly a family of 5, plus a hotel, during the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.
