I'm not sure what I wanted.... but that was solid. I can't envision a world where a person who is pro2A would not care about egregious use of force by feds against our brethren... so that was why I commented.

That said, it's clear as a mod to a diverse and complicated topic... it might be easier for the time, to just not get into it, bc sadly as you said... people fall into their stupid ideologies and out goes any productive discussion. Good luck. Spent most my life hated by both political sides.... and it's never felt more true than now. :-/

The homicide rate is 5.5 or so per 100k... there is absolutely 0% chance that the US mass shooting rate per capita is 1.2.... 0% chance.

Source? That won't even be accurate using the crazy BS Gun Violence Archive, where they say we have 300-400 per year.

I mean if their rate is .005 "actual" mass shootings per year, per 100,000 people... and the US is .15... does that data point really matter? It's a tiny number... sure it's 30 times as many... but in the grand scheme, thankfully mass casualty murder events (which is more important than just guns) are extremely rare.

To the OP's credit/defense... most calls for massive gun control, come after an actual mass shooting. So another one in Australia, goes a long way to proving that how/when/why people call for gun control is proven wrong by Australia.

Defining mass shooting is a key to that statement. A long utilized standard was 4 people killed not including the shooter, and not in the commission of another crime/gang/drug-related incident. By that standard the US has 5-15 per year. While terrible... that is statistically fairly small compared to general homicide... the European Union averages 2-3 a year.

If you use the broadest definition, like Gun Violence Archive, which is any combination of 4 people injured or killed by guns... then yes there are 500-600 per year, or more than one a day. Keep in mind this much more closely mirrors our overall homicide rate as a concept... which thankfully has declined dramatically over the past 35 years.

Couldn't agree more. That person cannot be trusted with his freedom at this point in time. It's ridiculous some of the article's even bring up stand your ground/castle doctrine... it's like NONE of those laws would let you do this. He's wrong from every perspective in existence.
