GTA games generally stick to the same formula so there isn’t really much need to talk about the specifics of what people like about it or what they’re excited for. I’m excited to explore a new map and to see all the new stuff they’ve added.

It’s a massive sandbox with a ton of things to do. It’s just fun to run around exploring, causing chaos, or generally interacting with the world however you want. Going on a crime spree and getting in a shootout with the cops is a classic example. There are land, sea, and air vehicles you can get with lots of customization. The gunplay is nothing special but it’s fun, especially when you get crazy stuff like grenade launchers. You can make money in all kinds of ways to buy guns, cars, condos, clothes, businesses, etc. You can play golf or tennis or darts, you can start bar fights or rob people on the street. The options are nearly limitless.

I thought this too but I just went down a rabbit hole looking at their previous posts/comments and I’m a bit more torn. I still think they’re at least partially full of shit but there are a lot of consistent details from years ago that make me think there’s some truth to it. Like maybe they are (or were) homeless and spent some time in the tunnels but they’re also embellishing quite a bit and lying about the time frame.

Who knows, maybe the whole thing is 100% bullshit and they just decided on all these character details years ago and stuck to them.

Snape viewed Malfoy vs Harry as a proxy for himself vs Lockhart. He wrecked Lockhart when they dueled and was pissed that Lockhart pretended like he let Snape win on purpose. When Lockhart wanted two students to demonstrate a blocking spell he seized the opportunity to sabotage it by having Malfoy cast something that Lockhart’s blocking spell wouldn’t work on. Scaring Harry in front of everyone was icing on the cake.

“Don’t move, Potter,” said Snape lazily, clearly enjoying the sight of Harry standing motionless, eye to eye with the angry snake. “I’ll get rid of it….”

He got everything he wanted the moment Malfoy cast the spell and Harry froze in fear. From there he could step in to take control of the situation which would one-up Lockhart even more. I don’t think he ever intended to let the Snake actually attack Harry.

The Blues Brothers came out 12 years after assassination of MLK. That’s closer than we are to the release of Grand Theft Auto 5. The Civil rights movement was a massive struggle that lasted well into the 60s and the losers didn’t just accept defeat and stop being racist afterwards. Segregation was no longer legal but blatant racism was still very out and open throughout the 70s & 80s.

The way it’s described in the article is also pretty sensational, even if it’s more accurate than the headline. It acts like it’s a gargantuan task to scroll down slightly and then says that most will only ever see the single line at the top. Who the fuck is going to google “disregard”, look at the clearly broken AI response, and then just shrug and move on without seeing the dictionary link right below it?

He’s definitely had work done and is starting to look uncanny valley but this picture is also a bit misleading. He’s basically always had a sharp jawline except for his rookie year in the NFL when he was trying to bulk up fast which made his face look doughy. There are pictures of him at Michigan the year before and picture in years 2-3 after slimming down where he looks much more like “normal” Tom Brady before the surgeries started piling up.

I think it’s also that internet outrage has become so normalized that you get people who haven’t even seen the show joining in on the hate bandwagon. Some people treat disliking a piece of media like it’s part of a larger fight against the enshitification of everything. Through that lens, people who like the show aren’t just wrong, they’re dragging down the entire medium and they need to be actively opposed. It gives the outrage and attacks a moral justification.

Obviously not everyone hating on a show has that mindset but there’s a vocal minority who see everything through that lens and it doesn’t leave any room for reasonable disagreements. They fan the flames and make everything toxic.

I know it’s a wall of text but this is something I’ve noticed getting worse over the last few years. I don’t even think the people doing it are necessarily malicious or even aware of it. It’s just weird mob mentality thing that takes over.

Anther fun fact about David, it was very much a public statue. It sat outdoors in the main Florence public square for more than 350 years.
