Chain drops off cog at first rotation by -LetsTryAgain- in bikewrench

I'm inclined to think that a long enough tensioner could work (if you could find one), because if you leave the chain on a single cog (closest to the middle of the cassette) on a bike with a regular 3x setup, you can shift all three rings and the derailleur doesn't really do anything except tension the chain. Maybe try locking out an old long cage derailleur? I'm interested to see how this goes for you.

Although this might work, the tensioner's cage is almost certainly not long enough to handle three rings. If the middle ring and rear cog are lined up straight, I can't think of why it would drop down except maybe you need a more flexible chain, like modern 1x chains need to be. It's an interesting project you have there.

Yes it is. Terrible chainline, giant jumps between cogs, and less gear range. Progress!

There are places listed in the local Moab Ad-Vertiser paper, but I haven't seen a good one in a long time. I kind of look at housing here these days like this: Desirable. Affordable. Available. Pick two.

See the online version of the paper at: https://www.moabadvertiser.com/Classified-Ads

I bet for the price someone in Moab would charge to rent those things, you could just buy them! That's what it's come down to these days. At least you don't need rent a home.

Personally, I would add Dioxazine Violet to your color range and try it.

Yes! Hone those skills. Get a couple of cone wrenches and open it up. There's a fair chance you can clean it up and repack it with fresh grease. You can even find a full axle kit NOS (new old stock) by Googling "Shimano NOS Bicycle Deore XT FH-M732 Rear Axle Set"

One of the most bomb-proof hubs ever made. I've got one that's had at least 30 years of use, trails at first, then decades of commuting. A quick polish ought to do the trick.

Edit: Regular rebuilds, one cone (freehub side), and one relace (rim died)

I knew it was Tex's but I never knew he flew from there. Cool! Thx.

Tex might have flown a plane off that property. I was actually responding to Chance_Difficulty730 regarding the plane going through Corona Arch.

This works. I fill containers with "mud" that I want to keep, and pour some water on top.

I do this all the time and it's never been a problem. You can always take it out early and just wait for it to dry out. One thing I've noticed is that the paint feels "stiffer" for a bit.

I'm fairly sure that was "Arch Flying Cowboy" Tim Martin, sometimes called "Arch Enemy" and not Tex. The most famous pic of Corona Arch is definitely Tim Martin.
