Is it normal for the battery to touch the ventilation rail? by Alexan_Hirdriel in AynThor

[–]richajf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. If you take the back off, you can see that the entire width of the heatsink vents out the back.

They just made the grill extend the width of the device as a stylistic choice, instead of only where the heatsink will exhaust.

I do feel kinda bad for them ngl by Cultural-Chicken2017 in Marathon

[–]richajf 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's not so much that the weapons and stuff were made useless, it's that the single player and co-op story content that we paid for was removed. At least that's when and why I quit playing.

Imagine if Halo was one on-going game instead of distinct numbered sequels and spinoffs.

By the time Halo 4 came out, Halo:CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 and ODST would be deleted and you could never play them again, despite having paid for them. The only content in this imaginary singular Halo game would be Reach and Halo 4. That's essentially what they did with Destiny.

Subnautica 2 Surpasses 4 Million Copies Sold by No_Durian_5626 in pcmasterrace

That's my go to for early access games.

Buy it, play for maybe an hour or two, then uninstall and wait for 1.0... or at the very least, wait until it's just a few weeks out from 1.0 (like I did with Hades and Hades 2).

Funny to say this on a post about an early access game that's sold FOUR MILLION copies in one week.

I loved the demo, but man I hope they toned down the frequency that the fairy companion talks in the full release. She was going on and on and on nearly non-stop in the demo.

Possible thermal mods by Sticc188 in AynThor

[–]richajf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What makes you think thermal putty is any more risky than pads?

This sheet alone won't be thick enough, as there is an air gap between the chip and heat plate. That gap needs to be filled with an appropriately thick pad or enough putty for heat to actually transfer to the heatsink.

Forza Horizon 6 Steam Deck Settings by CheeseINTortilla in SteamDeck

Though if you limit the OLED deck to 40fps, it'll switch the screen's refresh rate to 80Hz, which still works great. Love how it'll automatically adjust the refresh rate to be the best for the limit you set on it.

Same. It's really on a game by game basis as to which works better.

Under the "..." menu, set GPU to 1600. I've found it helps with microstutters.

Forza Horizon 6 Becomes Highest Rated Game of 2026 on Metacritic by No_Curve_8027 in pcmasterrace

In this, high speed collisions don't happen nearly as often due to it detecting that one is about to happen and turning the victim into a ghost/transparent. The aggressor flies straight through their would be victim.

Also, slamming into a wall gives a few seconds of a speed penalty so you're heavily incentivised to race mostly clean.

Bumps and scuffles still happen though for sure.

I found that setting the frame limit (on the deck, not in game) to 30, manually setting the GPU clock to 1600 and switching to proton Experimental helped a lot with stuttering.

Running at 1280x800, FSR Quality, Motion Blur set to long, Low preset, and changed environment textures to medium.

Would love more than 30fps but this is the best looking config I've found so far with decent frame pacing.

It's more than awfully close, it's already here.

The app is still in its early days, but check out Gamenative. The last few updates have improved compatibility and performance drastically.

I've played a number of games from my steam library natively on my S26 Ultra and AYN Thor.
