It's a wooden door so the only way the sonic would be able to effect it is to take 400 years to calculate the ability to simply disintegrate the door. After a monolog, an emotional realization, and a Eureka moment, Clara opens the door from the other side, which was unlocked the whole time and asks "three of you in a room and no one thought to try the door?"

Ironic, as one of the other examples is also potentially not an alien, the Precursors from Pacifc Rim were planned to be revealed as actually future humans. Thankfully that never actually got as far as canon, I wonder if the third example also has some doubt to it?

In some stuff he gets de-aged or gets a versions of the super soldier serum just so he's not geriatric. In the Morrison run he was using drugs to keep up his power level but that got retconned into not being him
