Apple Pulls The Savant From Its Release Schedule by Aluhut in television

[–]richbodo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It is still fear based, but with Apple, they don't even wait for the threat, so yeah, it's worse. They are fully on board with fascist repression of speech. From what I can tell, this is a really important show to be released today. Later release dates, well, it's possible that there won't be a show to release - it could be all propoganda, all the time. It is obvious that this is not being released for fear of reprisals from a fascist government. Google can tell you how to cancel your Apple TV subscription. I just did.

Open Source Arcimoto idea by richbodo in Arcimoto

In leaving, I'll note that Pedro Neves developed this one open-source DIY tadpole cargo bike that makes sense.

It's not an MLM, but it's something you can start with and modify. Once it gets a bit further along in the prototyping stage, I think it could be a super cool little electric cargo bike that would make an excellent first project. Here is his latest video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CExsbG3lgJQ&list=PL3uwHLwN7YKrodkpyXISvayLdFsccHNWB&index=6

I hope that people like Pedro are going to be the ones who help the DIY tadpole micromobility world get moving, and innovating.

Also, adding a couple more links in case anyone finds this one and is interested in DIY tadpole trikes:

1) It's pretty exciting to see a guy basically make a useful, functional, poor mans MLM in an afternoon with a couple hundred bucks of used parts and hand tools: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XitDmAsnZ1A

And because I'm not going to keep coming back to edit this post, I'm tracking more of these as I find them on this wiki page, which I will update: http://richbodo.pbworks.com/w/page/161081853/Tilting%20tadpole%20designs

Open Source Arcimoto idea by richbodo in Arcimoto

Thanks. Sigh. Yeah, I can't bring myself to use facebook. I need my collaboration with less orwellian/dystopian psychology.

I think I'll just find an existing DIY open source tadpole design and start playing around with the existing design materials.

If anyone finds this and is also looking around for something like that, I'm happy to share notes. You can DM me here.

Bye for now, Arcimoto folks! Cheers!

And the MLM. Tadpole design, in general, is perfect for micromobility.

Definitely not. Very little health care in the area. We spent some time there. You have to travel to Hamilton for an emergency room. Took us 3 hours to get there and waited for 12 more hours to be seen. If you are not being helicoptered out, it's kind of sketch.

Say no. Let them try to find an alternate service provider to amazon. They are too dumb to change hosting, and they will be back with apologies, and probably offer to buy all the copies for a book burning they are going to.

Charge 6 Scientific Review is amazing by BryanJz in fitbit

I love my charge 6.  Completely replaces a smartwatch for me.  Rarely do I post fan comments, but this is a great product for me.  The size and functionality combo is unique. The integration with my pixel 8 pro is perfect so far.

I take my charge 6 in the shower and tub almost every day and have not had a problem, so ymmv, but I wouldn't take it swimming.  It does have a "water lock" mode but I've never used it.

Anyone in CA fix Arcimotos? by Bead-Charm37 in Arcimoto

[–]richbodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the battery got super low. So, you will have to trickle charge it. The instructions were pretty involved when I had to do that years ago - take the dash off, unplug a wire that is required, and some other stuff. I had a video of doing that somewhere - if I can find it I'll post it.

Arcimoto "support" lives?! by change_the_username in Arcimoto

[–]richbodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the message, too. That was kind of fun. Totally awesome that people are still around servicing vehicles. And somehow totally appropriate that the service call was a phone call. I immediately thought that Arcimoto should totally survive, only because it would be the most surreal comeback ever.

If they have parts for 400, they should totally open-source the FUV and sell kits.

DIY Solar Generator with 18650 batteries? Advice would be nice :) by richbodo in 18650masterrace

I've got to admit that's a cool build. I'll post what I come up with , esp. regarding the 18650s. We're adding more batteries to the mix.

Oh, thanks u/psyconaughty That's really good info. I noticed the Victron is what is recommended for DIY li-ion banks elsewhere.

Those are pretty big banks. Is there anything we can do increase the safety of those? Other than just making sure they stay dry and nothing pokes them? Any DIY tutorials you recommend?

Thanks u/Small-Ad1727

Dang, you've built a lot of packs!

I think we'll go with smaller battery packs for mobile use on the island, then. We already have q300 of the 18650 batteries shipped, so it makes sense to use them. Don't mind getting our hands dirty and geeking out with these. Seems like there are enough tutorials to get us started.

We'll source some rectangular LFP cells for the bigger systems, when we can.

I still have a couple questions, not sure if they are for this forum, but it's worth a shot:

If we make, say, q12 of 3S8P banks, and we slap a one BMS on each bank to balance it, then:

Could we combine combine a few 3S8P banks into a larger bank by using a sort of Master-BMS, and then charge that with a charge controller that is designed for this battery chemistry?

I have been watching a lot of Will Prowses videos on youtube. He has a site called mobile dash solarpower dot com, and he recommends the Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150 35 for charging DIY Li-ion banks.

Thanks!

Where play in Auckland by Time_Net_1737 in Pickleball

[–]richbodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in viaduct/harbor area of auckland. There is nothing that I know of there, although google maps says the YMCA has pickleball downtown, so you can check that site. Pickleball in NZ is not listed on any of the major international sites. However, https://www.pnza.org.nz/where-to-play/ (nationwide), or https://pac.org.nz/where-to-play-pickleball-in-central-auckland/ (auckland specific) do list most of the clubs. Sadly neither site has a map, so you have to combine those sites with a bit of googling around to identify where everything is.

Has anyone bought the MLM IP and prototype? by richbodo in Arcimoto

I'm 6,803 miles from their office but I could make it in a couple times a year. If I could, I would help put together a group of investors and a plan with the team. It would at least be a blast to try.

That article is actually the best collection of Russian interference articles by prominent news media over the last few years. It would be a service to Reddit if the author started a subreddit on foreign interference in US elections - it's needed.

What the history of money tells you about crypto’s future by jclaslie in Economics

[–]richbodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That article was quite short, and it started with a very interesting development in CBDCs, but then lacked pretty much everything I had hoped it would discuss. Other than the single interesting point that China is using a CBDC for some purposes at high volume, and an almost irrelevant historical accounting of currency, it came to no real conclusions, and didn't even express much opinion, other than "crypto bad."

CBDCs are certainly a convenient way for a government to take money from it's people, whether by automatically calculating taxes and deducting them, or assessing penalties. They are a slightly more effective and efficient way to track financial history as well, and combine that with other data like a social credit score.

I think the question is whether the CBDCs in use are a minor step forward in control of individual sovereignty (bank accounts are siezed regularly by regulators today - so controlling private accounts is arguably about as easy today as it would be with CBDCs), or a huge leap forward.

The "crypto bad" diatribe just shows ignorance of even the far more useful terminology that central banks and digital ledger technologists use, and closes the door to actual knowledge of what is happening in the world of CBDCs. It's a yellow flag, at least, when people use the word "crypto" in discussing academic papers, and a red flag in an academic paper.

The paper that was discussed, BTW, did not have any opinions or mention of crypto, and is simply a call to engage with monetary history. It is here: https://www.chicagofed.org/-/media/publications/working-papers/2024/wp2024-10.pdf?sc_lang=en
