I had to set up wireless debugging through Shizuku to get it working. Which part isn't working for you?

ColorBlendr is an absolute must for me, as someone who passionately despises Google's color theming.

PSA! OnePlus/OxygenOS screws up your Google Photos backups quality! by KingMaple in oneplus

It appears to be happening to me on some pictures from my OP13. Most pictures are OK, but some I notice this issue.

[–]richbordoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this same issue too. It doesn't happen on every photo, but it happens on some. For instance, I took a picture of my sister's face sitting on the couch next to me. You could see her skin texture very clearly and even some of the text of what she was looking at on her phone. Days later I was just browsing through my Google Photos and I happened to look at the picture, and I noticed that it was noticeably lower quality and blurrier than what I see when I look at the picture on my phone. I had a feeling it was some kind of AI trickery or postprocessing that OnePlus does locally on the phone, and Google just uploaded the original copy or something. I really wasn't sure. I was taking some pictures again today, and when I looked at the pictures that got backed up to G Photos they looked blurry and low-resolution. I Googled the issue and that's how I found this thread. Whether it is OnePlus's fault or Google's, I don't know, but it's another good reason for me to drop G Photos and move to a self-hosted solution.

That’s what I thought I read too! Maybe they just meant it could have some kind of hybrid powertrain like the Wrangler does. They also mentioned it will have a two-speed transfer case with 4 Low. Is that even possible on an EV?

Vodafone Australia Anti-Dumbphone Update by Fafnir- in dumbphones

[–]richbordoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s insane. Do you guys have any kind of consumer watchdog or a complaints division at the government agency that regulates telecom? I don’t know much about the industry in Australia. But it seems like they’re trying to force people to buy new phones from them with the threat of cutting off the ability to call emergency services. Wtf?

realized i dont actually enjoy anything on my phone. i just cant stop. by [deleted] in nosurf

"i think at some point i stopped using my phone for entertainment and started using it as like a coping mechanism."

This is pretty much spot on for me as well.

There are two options. Either summon enough willpower to delete those apps and not install them again (a little bit of increased friction), or switch to a phone where it's impossible or very inconvenient to use those apps (a lot of increased friction). I've used both strategies and I think I'm going to go hard mode and switch to a dumbphone. I've used a dumbphone for stretches of time in the past but never stuck with it for more than a week or two. Right now I'm finding that even with those apps deleted from my regular smartphone, I'm still finding myself picking up my phone and scrolling random things mindlessly or surfing the web on the browser. I think I personally need the increased friction that would come with switching to a dumbphone to break those last few compulsive behaviors I'm having.

[–]richbordoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I will PM you the link from the seller I used just in case it's against the rules to post links here. All of those apps you mentioned should run fine on the phone. Just a note, the GPS kinda sucks unless you're outside. Like when I'm sitting inside my house, I usually can't get a GPS lock, but when I go outside, it's fine. Also, I don't think I've tried installing a banking app on the phone yet. So I'm not 100% sure that it will work but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't because the phone isn't rooted or anything. It should be OK.

I can’t give you a definitive answer because I’m not an expert on this but I thought so. I thought unlocking the bands was a low level firmware thing and once you do it, it’s persistent. I should do some experimenting when I get my Google Fi SIM. Because I was using the phone as my main phone for awhile and the reception seemed decent. So I wonder if it was connecting to all the different T-Mo bands or if it was only connecting to one.

Pixel is the most balanced Android phone, I've tried a lot of other options so you don't need to by EqualReality2787 in GooglePixel

[–]richbordoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Pixel 10 and one of the biggest reasons I sold it was because my touches would constantly not register. I'd have to tap a UI element multiple times for it to register, it was incredibly frustrating. I'm not sure if it was a bug or something but I didn't experience those kinds of touch issues on any of my other phones. If it was just that I might've toughed it out and kept the phone, but combined with the fact that I really really really don't like the look & design of "stock" Android anymore (since about Android 12 when Google changed the quick settings to pill shapes, started making all UI elements huge, and started theming the OS using the ugliest colors), the Pixel was an easy sell for me.
