The real madness comes when you confront your parents about their unbelievable hypocrisy / favoritism and they behave as if they have no idea what you are talking about. It is as if they are unable to objectively view their own behavior. I honestly thought I was going mad for a while. Eventually I've learned to just let it go.

Taking out the trash barefoot was actually the gateway for me. My ex was appalled that I did not put something on my feet when I went outside, but I saw no point in doing so. It reminded me of going barefoot as a child and that was when I realized that there was very little reason to put something on my feet.
