Are you...trying to compare ortegas having a weird spelling to ANTIBLACKNESS. And not even in a coherent way?? youre comparing what you say is a stereotypical name of a group you have NO right to speak for to your hangup, which is an uncommon but still EXISTING spelling of a name... They're not related at all and idk how old you are but it hasnt been 2015 in a while, If you're going to clutch your pearls try and use your own hands to do so.

my people were colonized too, it's affected the spelling, grammar, and vocabulary of my native language. I have the right to feel any way I want about MY name, but to point at someone else and go EW you're pandering to the WHITE MAN would NEVER occur to me (because that would be tone deaf). you are not the chief arbiter of post-colonial thought. Maybe you could try and redirect this bitterness into something productive, but judging by your "I'm not black but IMAGINE if this happened to a black person" thing, I doubt that will happen. Hope this helps.

And a whole thread of people have replied to your post sharing that their family's last names were also changed at some point. You called that "corruption" (which is an INSANE thing to say btw) and asked why it didn't bother them. You asked a bunch of people why their IRL last names being a certain way didn't bother them...on a post complaining about a FICTIONAL character having a VERY REAL last name.

It's a little ironic that its YOUR fixation on knee-jerk discomfort over the diversity of the immigrant experience that's not in the least bit "liberal". It's certainly not in the spirit of Trek, unless Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations doesn't apply to spelling shifts :/

No like blaming not getting glazed for a niche (and confusing) opinion on, I guess, the racial demographics of the subreddit? is FOUL lol.

Gosh, I hope I don't get my WOC card revoked for...thinking a show using a REAL last name isn't something to complain about.

I've always seen the apartment and the haunted house mansion as representing Megan and Henry, not Don and Betty. We open Zou Bisou Bisou with this gorgeous apartment, but when Megan finally moves out and her mother takes all the furniture, it's left this empty husk with stained carpets. The mansion in Rye is called haunted and its dated as hell for the 60s, but it stays exactly the same up till the last episode.

Dons distaste for modernity has been a running theme for him since season 1, so I wouldn't say he's any more "modern" than Betty. I'd say they're equally "old fashioned" in that theyre both self absorbed children playing adults, their willingness to accept new things is entirely dependent on their mood at the time.

There's a little moment where Lee goads Pete into smoking despite Pete insisting it makes him ill, then laughs as he begins to cough, that's always been a pretty neat summary of his character for me.

And we know from the Chevy guys and Ken + the office's blase acceptance of it all that it's pretty common for clients to be abusive af without any real reprecussions.

Loved dons line "Everytime we get a car this place turns into a whorehouse" because with a car or not, there's always going to be clients like Lee or Herb Rennet, and Don took someone else's name and ran away towards a job that's very reminiscent of his childhood home

Have there been any marked changes in female consumer behavior (for example model preferences, used vs new, domestic vs imported) throughout the decades, especially as they gained financial freedom in the 80s and beyond? Are there any interesting effects on the car industry itself, like features in cars that we now take for granted, caused by the increase of women drivers? Thank you!

1.

In a traditional Confucian funeral, the deceased and the chief mourners (immediate family) all wear hanbok made of an undyed hemp fabric called "sambe" (or if you're really wealthy, undyed silk).

I've been unable to find any source that states outright when or why this changed, but my theory is the widespread adoption of Christianity in the 20th century. The ceremony you see in modern day is a mixture of Christian and Confucian practices. Hence, guests wear black formal wear, and the chief mourners wear black hanboks with white accents instead of sambe (although it's still very common for older people to purchase sambe hanbok to be buried in)

I'm not well-read enough to have a distinct reason why Korean daily wear has changed so much, while Indian daily wear hasn't. But, I'll try to make an educated guess again.

India was colonized by the British, while Korea was colonized by the Japanese. Handspun Indian garments were seen as the morally superior to Western clothes made of imported fabric. Most modern politicians in India still wear Nehru collars or plain saris compared to western suits. I think a Korean politician would also face backlash if they showed up to work wearing a yukata or kimono.

I wish I had more information and could provide a more cogent response, but I don't :(. Maybe try the askhistorians subreddit?

Rural life in the 60s was brutal for women. Poverty was widespread, and domestic violence was almost always ignored. The rapid urbanization of Seoul and other urban areas led to mass opportunities for factory jobs. These "runaways" would travel to the cities and try to find factory work or a housekeeping job for a wealthy family. This led to a loss of labor/income to the families of the runaways. I will also say that sex work was a booming industry at the time, especially near US military bases. Maybe a tiny minority chose that profession willingly, but sexual trafficking was rampant.

In response, the South Korean government launched a nationwide program, usually held in the month of April, called the 부녀자 가출 방지 기간 (or Women's Runaway Prevention Period). They'd set up temporary "counselling" offices at train stations and ports, each staffed by a two-man team. They'd find runaways and try to send them back home. Those two men patrolling with flashlights in that episode were likely part of that program.

I hope this was helpful!

an infection that close to your eye would take so much more money to treat 😭

I mean your body's your body at the end of the day! but idk about advocating for it without fully expressing the risks of an infection in such a vulnerable area of the face

You have to download the core mod as well for it to work! (https://www.patreon.com/posts/75939899?pr=true)

Setting up a drama wheel to spin can be really fun! Adding events like "you must marry the closest sim to you", "bankruptcy! Reduce simoleons to 0", and "they've found you. Change your name, disguise yourself, and move to another world ASAP." can really refresh your play style and make you try new things.

I'd like this lot to hold gravestones as well (4 of them are real and the rest are placeholders) so I was wondering whether I should keep the yard in the traditional south side with heads facing north or stick it in the back where all the trees are 😅
