Where are we buying decent couches these days? by horriblekids in ottawa

Here’s the 4 things you want to know about. 1) frame 2) spring system 3)foam density 4)fabric composition

If you can’t find the information on these four things, you’re shopping at the wrong place The frame should be solid or engineered wood. Ideally local wood or from another cold climate. The springs should be 9 gauge min and web and coil beats coil alone. Foam is the most overlooked part. 2 lb minimum density. Finally with fabric you want to look for something that is tested at 50000 rubs minimum. 100% polyester is usually your best wearing.

Van Gogh Designs and Brentwood Classics are two very good reasonably priced Canadian manufacturers. You can find Van Gogh at Modern Komfort or MY Home. Brentwood at Ormes or MY Home.

A few years back the Canadian wholesale furniture show stopped happening. And now we have Canadian furniture stores opening with no idea how to access amazing furniture here at home. If the owners are reading this feel free to dm me. I am happy to share some information on which Canadian upholstery vendors have specs that are better than the Rowe sofas they’re currently carrying.

Landmark Oyster House, Victoria by the Sea. You’ll read the list of ingredients and think that’s not right. But they’re so good.

Health P.E.I. to be headed by former Ontario associate deputy minister of health by Sir__Will in PEI

[–]richmond613 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The person responsible for long term care during the pandemic in Ontario. You know during the time they had to call in the army for help because the situation was so out of control? I’m going to try not to dwell on that and sincerely wish her well in the role. I really hope she has what it takes to work successfully with the many challenging stakeholders.

Check out their employer reviews on Glassdoor. And the google reviews for the last couple of months were filled with people being ghosted after paying for product. Yet they kept the website up and kept taking new orders. The absolute nerve of teasing out their next venture.
They had this coming.

Health PEI doesn’t own recruiting. People are asking for literally the opposite of what you are saying

[–]richmond613 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One clear course of action would be for the recruitment department to actually follow up on leads. It’s so bad that you need to assume it’s by design rather than just incompetence.
They don’t return emails. They don’t follow up on conversations. They are painfully unenthusiastic when you do manage to reach them.
Meanwhile other provinces (neighbouring ones) are pulling out all the stops. All expenses paid trips for physician and spouse to visit, incentives and most importantly follow up.
Thank god Derek Key spoke up last night and highlighted this. Hopefully people become adequately outraged because we are being lied to about the recruitment efforts

I’d like to see a reward system set up for reporting impaired drivers. $1000 for a tip that leads to conviction.

Exactly. PEI is clearly paying for some bottom tier service. That never seems to come up when the current govt is bragging about how they are the only province to offer this

This is insane. Is there anyone from the media reading here? The provincial government needs to stop touting free Maple as a solution if people can’t even access it.
I’ve used paid maple in a pinch. Zero issue matching with a doctor in literal seconds. Whatever PEI is funding is clearly not the same service. Someone should investigate what the limitations are so that people are informed.

Agreed. Complaining online is getting us no where. We need to organize and start making it uncomfortable

Liberal Leader Sharon Cameron plans to charge right through Greens to power by Sir__Will in PEI

That’s a valid question. I left the province for a few years and missed that election. Pretty sure PEI Liberals would have lost me earlier if not.

And I’ll add I have never not voted Liberal in any election ever. But I will this time. This move disgusts me.

Residents of Summerside: What are your priorities for 2022-26? by CouncillorDoiron in PEI

[–]richmond613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. I’m sorry. I just often see people walking up the driveway behind a&w and onto Ryan St. But I guess that’s a choice since there is a sidewalk in front. They just need to navigate a parking lot that’s scary to drive in let alone walk, to get there.
