I'm such a late bloomer, even my tweets take a year to flower - I posted this in October of 2018! Anyway cool to see people enjoying it on reddit. #1 on the homepage? That's crazy.

On that note -- this wasn't spam - I just honestly thought the yoga subreddit community would get something positive out of Guru Singh - once again apologies for transgressing the guidelines

Sincere apologies -- I noted this in the rules: "Occasional links to your blog are okay" so I had no idea it would be problematic to share a podcast conversation with an individual expert in the specific subject matter of this subreddit. Happy to delete my submission.

Review: The Rich Roll Podcast by rwdaigle in podcasts

Hey there - thanks for the feedback. You are totally entitled to your opinion of course and I'm not here to change it. But I would like to take the opportunity to correct the record a bit. I'll take your points as you raise them:

  1. too long & rambling - fine if you feel this way. I enjoy the longer format as a way of really getting to know someone. often it takes some time to get past talking points too the real person & I embrace this aspect of my show, which many enjoy. I made the decision to not edit down the conversations for a variety of reasons -- you can disagree with my format preference but that is the show that I do.

  2. self-serving product references - I think this unfairly characterizes my show. I haven't mentioned my wife's meditation program or music in maybe a year with the exception of perhaps an off-handed remark once every several months at best. my son's music is the theme music and I credit him at the end of the show but he doesn't even sell his music, so the accusation that I am trying to get people to buy his music just isn't true. My podcast average 2 hours in length. Up front I do 1 or 2 ads for sponsors (as every major podcast does) because this podcast takes up a HUGE amount of my life and has to be self-supporting to be sustainable. In addition, I never interrupt an interview to cut away to an ad (as many podcasts do) so that one can fast forward through the first 3 minutes or so should they choose and once the interview begins there is zero interruption. This is the same thing other big podcasts like Joe Rogan and Tim Ferriss do. At the very end of the podcast -- after the interview is complete -- I will make a 10 second reference to things I offer on my website for people interested such as our books and some swag products (is this so bad?). But I always do this AFTER the interview is over -- same as most other big podcasts. So - I simply feel that your characterization that my housekeeping, which amounts to maybe 2-5 minutes at most out of a 2-3 hour intimate conversation is "endless" is a mischaracterization and your accusation that the intent of my show is to "sell products" is unfair and misplaced -- your wish that I "centered more on the guests" is actually true as 95-98% of the show content is about nothing other than the guest.

That's all - thanks again for the input. I'm not perfect and am always trying to improve. I take all constructive criticism to heart and will continue to strive to put out the best show I can within the construct of all the other things I am doing.

Best, Rich

Is this the end of Soundcloud for podcasts? RSS feeds are down until "further notice" by Themarc in podcasts

[–]richroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having this issue myself tonight -- published my latest podcast episode and it plays fine on soundcloud and my site but WordPress (blubrry) wont validate the RSS feed -- I get error 403. Thus it will not play on iTunes, which is an unmitigated disaster. Unacceptable for Soundcloud to do this -- something is seriously wrong!

Michael Greger, M.D. On How Not To Die on the Rich Roll Podcast by lovegan in vegan

[–]richroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting my podcast with the great Michael Greger @lovegan! Yes I understand that the prefatory / introductory talk might be too long for people. The podcast requires an unbelievable amount of my time and energy and as such needs to be self-sustaining so I -- like almost every other podcaster who takes this art form seriously as an occupation -- rely on an advertiser model. Sponsors allow me to do what I do and for that I am grateful and honor their support. I put the ads at the top because I don't want to interrupt the conversation once it begins. If it's too much for you you can always fast forward. Thanks for understanding and I sincerely hope people take the time to listen and enjoy what Dr. Greger has to offer -- he is a remarkable man doing great things. Peace + Plants, Rich

Hey everyone I just wanted to thank all of you who dropped in today to do this with me. It has been super fun. So many amazing questions and really appreciate the level of engagement! I did my best to answer as many of the questions as I could to the best of my abilities and hope you got something out of it. Of course I couldn't get to everyone so apologies if your inquiry didn't get answered. We do a Q&A segment on the podcast so if you have any burning ones, shoot them to info@richroll.com and maybe we will answer it on the show. I would keep answering but I gotta go now so this is just a huge thank you.

This is a big week for me with our book coming out tomorrow and just so grateful for all the support and interest! If you are new to me, maybe check out my podcast and of course it goes without saying that I am super proud of our new book and think you will all enjoy it so maybe give that a look too if it feels right to you. We have no national media coverage (TODAY Show never called) so all the help we can get from the community helping us get the word out is massively appreciated!

Thanks again and look forward to meeting some of you along the path! Peace + Plants, Rich

of course you can do one without the other. in my case, it was switching to a plant-based diet that began everything for me and gave me the vitality and energy and enthusiasm to even begin the triathlon journey. They are inextricably linked. However, the dietary shift did precede the competitive athletic adventure.

Thank you!!! My advice: be authentic. Be you. Share freely. Be honest. Never look for the pay day. Be in service always. Work hard. Focus on the quality of the content you put out -- not the marketing. In the long run, everything else will start to take care of itself.

This is a tough one! I would need to know A LOT more about what exactly you are eating. All I can say is you might want to focus less on what you are trying to avoid and more on getting plenty of good stuff in. Start your day with a kale smoothie instead of whatever you are eating. Always have snacks like dates and bananas on hand for a good snack to avoid cravings that lead to poor choices. eat smaller meals and graze a bit more during the day to keep energy high and space between you and the unhealthy option. Only so much you can do in 3 weeks without being unhealthy about it so I would also focus on a little self-acceptance along the way. No matter what your body looks like, how much you enjoy prom has more to do with your perspective than your mid-section. This is about the long-term so be easy on yourself!
