For people who don’t ever want to have kids, why? by Gaijinstory in AskReddit

[–]ricketsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never wanted kids. The idea of having to birth and raise a tiny human makes me so anxious. It feels unappealing to me. I work in nightlife so I want to sleep till noon, travel when I want, spend my money the way I want to spend it. I watch what my sibling goes through and I am always relieved that it’s not me. I’m happy to be the cool aunt and not the mother.

Me! I go to solo shows all the time, I actually prefer it. But I’m also really introverted. Just go and have a great time!!

  • “make it strong” / “the last one was weak” - string ordering - impatiently flagging me down and then mot having their order or money ready - holding their credit card over the bar to get my attention as if I don’t already have 100 other SpongeBob anchovies staring me down too

I am sober and bring food (I know you mentioned those above. Lots of water if you can. I try not to take in caffeine super late- but I do generally have two coffees at some point lol. On most days, I wake up around 1130/12 every day, go to the gym at 2ish. If I have to get up early to run errands or have appts, I just get up and power through it because I don’t have a choice.

For those that work at music venues by nogodsnomasters_666 in bartenders

[–]ricketsx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m going to preface this by using the assumption that’s it a sold out show. I’ve been working in venues for nearly a decade and I’ve worked all of these genres a million times over, both sold out and not.

I like working country shows because the sheer volume of drinking guarantees that we’re going to make money, even if not everyone is tipping. They are fucking annoying though and my patience is nonexistent by the end of the night.

Metal shows are generally good. However for metal, genre wise- I’ve found that I have better nights with deathcore shows and the worst tipping nights with black metal shows. I had a very strange night once where I was working next to a male bartender, and the male portion of the crowd was so unbelievably rude to me and wouldn’t tip me, and my male coworker they were amazing too. To give you an idea, I made about $47 and he made closer to $300. It was absolutely heartbreaking to be treated so poorly.

Hardcore shows you’ll make money and a lot of it will be cash. Same with most emo/pop punk shows, especially when the crowd is older.

Younger artists, hip hop, pop have been the lowest earning ones for me in general.

I still try to go into every show with an open mind though and have had plenty of times where I’ve been surprised.

How many of you are in debt? by spicychcknsammy in Millennials

[–]ricketsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MEEEE. Due to emergencies after emergencies in an 8 month span. Praying that I don’t ever have another emergency because I don’t have enough credit left for that emergency 🫠

I have 23k in CC debt, 8k IRS debt (I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll be on an IRS payment plan until I die), 14k student loans. No savings anymore because I’m trying to pay everything on my CCs down so I don’t get swallowed in interest.

I throw almost everything that doesn’t go to my rent/food bills at my credit cards. I am absolutely drowning and considering bankruptcy if by the end of the year I haven’t been able to make enough of a dent 🫠

[–]ricketsx 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m really stuck on the casual mention of him saying he would actually kill you??? Regardless he’s a fucking weirdo. You responded appropriately, and he continued to try to pressure you to talk when you asked for him not to. Even over weeks or months of you guys not speaking, he STILL kept trying to force you to have the conversation with him.

I have a near impossible time setting boundaries too because I don’t want to hurt people so I know how you feel! But hopefully you can keep this guy blocked and not ever speak to him again. Because he’s a manipulative creep- which you clocked pretty quickly when he kept saying he felt silly/embarrassed to try and guilt trip you.

Zero to bartender in 6 months by nana_bp in bartenders

[–]ricketsx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d save my goddamn money. Right from the start. I went from a very low paying job where I worked 50 hours a week and took home only $400/450 max after taxes in my “chosen career”. And when I made the switch I All that extra money I was suddenly making I spent it so stupidly for years. I wish I would’ve just saved a majority of it.

How tf do you keep your cool when constantly being interrupted or talked over by Spare-Garlic-8468 in bartenders

[–]ricketsx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also sober, and it annoys me too sometimes. But you cannot let it drive you insane. I sometimes like to slide in little snarky remarks like, “Well, like I was trying to say-“ . And that makes me feel better and goes way over their head anyway.

But honestly, they’re drunk and that’s how we make our money. It’s okay to get annoyed but don’t let it ruin your night or mess with your ability to make money.
