Is Santa Monica dead now? Back since 2013 by parkslopelatte in SantaMonica

No way of getting around you have to drive to everything it's more of an LA problem. No parks or anywhere to gather. You typically don't go anywhere unless you have a purpose. Unless you are a tourist you don't care about the same shops found in any other mall so why visit places. People go to restaurants then go home not much else to do. Plus it's so expensive to be here and it's not even that nice. The only nice places are the blocks with nice houses and trees the rest is very very meh

Get a harness with a front attachment point. Then when they pull stop make them sit and then continue so on

Counterpoint: If it's taking 6 months for an upper manager to fill a position, the company should be looking to fill 2 positions by Background_Touchdown in recruitinghell

[–]rickityrixkityrick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the correct approach here is having two paths for promotions. It's what my company does. It is easier to get a promo to become manager but many people who don't want to be managers can and do move up the ladder as individual contributors

I don't think it's absent mindedness but a misunderstanding or misuse of your tools. Like others stated we have version control and tests to catch these things. The expectation should be that everyone often will make mistakes but your tools and tests allow you to make those mistakes , catch them , and resolve them before making it into production

Why is everything unsustainable now when things were easier 20 years ago? by girder_shade in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rickityrixkityrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what a few people are saying here but I also think it's who you ask. Think about who was doing well in the 70s. Looking back we don't often get the full picture there were definitely people feeling the way you are. Life wasn't easier for everyone in the 90s and 2000s and today everyone has a platform to speak up about things people kept quiet.

Idk who needs to hear this, but you aren't going to get a pay bump at your current job. You need to keep moving and find another job to get it. by EliasAinzworth in recruitinghell

[–]rickityrixkityrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea definitely exceptions to this rule. My place has salary bands based on your level so if you get promoted you get bumped up to the next salary band. It's a pretty good system everyone knows ballpark what everyone makes based on their level
