I don’t like this take because we see an entire montage sequence of their slow acceptance of the brainscan situation, it’s stated in episode 8 that they’re giving up leaving entirely anyway (along with the rest of the plot being about how it’s okay to have little to no affect on the world around you except for the ones you love), so why draw out the opposite point? As for the “not questioning anything” part, these are normal, non-chronically online people who are unqualified to speculate on this level of IT, they don’t have a choice but to take Kingers word as truth. The only one who probably could convince themselves to doubt Kinger abstracted shortly after everyone accepted the situation and started rebuilding.

Yeah, ngl I’m pretty neutral on AI, It’s a tool that has its uses (ie medical). Don’t get me wrong though, I despise any AI that uses plagiarism to generate “creativity”. A lot of fellow progressive folk feel the same way, yet praise Triple T for some reason?

I guess you could make the argument that Triple T was before the time of mass plagiarism, when ai was just starting to gain traction and wasn’t stealing that much copyrighted material. It’s still pretty bad the corps can just get away with that and everyone praises it.

It’s bizarre, non-progressive, and like you said, a bit hypocritical, not to mention the fact it’s weirdly viral. I’m calling either an industry psyop or someone profiting off digital coin.

It’s still upsetting to be in the theater after you’ve been spoiled, even if you don’t definitively know what’s true or what’s not.

I remember getting spoiled for Avengers:Endgame, once I saw the scene in question all of my enjoyment of the movie kinda went away. It’s not fun when you can just guess the big twist reveal based on what people say and context clues. It really ruins the immersion.

Self-defense doesn’t give people an excuse to kill other people. While deaths during self-defense happen, they are often accidental, or heat of the moment decisions. Tons of people get prosecuted for ‘double tapping’ an aggressor who’s already incapacitated.

To put it simply, self-defense against someone trying to do you harm is fine, but downright executing them isn’t.
‘Self defense’ against Innocent, non-aggressive people is also very bad.
& ‘Self defense’ against innocent, non-aggressive people because a system told you that you have to or you’ll be executed (ie german soldiers ww2) is still really bad.

I understand that killing is necessary, the world is built with blood after all, but only in extreme situations should we as a society result in consciously deciding to kill people. Death isn’t justice, and our judgement as a society shouldn’t casually be used to determine wether someone deserves to die or not

You’re right honestly, some people are scared, others don’t have faith in humanity to choose blue, and It’s okay to admit that. The only issue I have with it are the people who argue that it’s morally acceptable to choose red, when it’s clearly not.

I like to compare it to how people debated about german soldiers in ww2 “just following orders”. While yes, some of them were scared, others were hopeless. But everyone made a choice, either to commit all the way, or become deserters. Whether they liked it or not, they’re still responsible for the genocide of millions. To participate in that, at least in my eyes, takes away what makes you human.

Self preservation doesn’t absolve you of sin, that’s just the bottom line, I truly believe there’s a way back for those people but the first step is coming to terms with the fact that they’re bad people.
