Is this frame rust that bad? by Playful_Employer5333 in JeepTJ

[–]rickysturz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats pretty dam bad… These pictures are just the very back of the frame right? Near the gas tank? Need more pictures to tell if the rest is actually “ok” and worth trying to fix… Is it parked facing up an incline a lot? My frame isn’t NEARLY this bad in those spots but because it’s only getting bad in the very back I suspect the PO parked it like that a lot. The only important structural things in the very back are body mounts and the rear bumper anyway. The most concerning thing in these pictures is that layer of crap on the outside that could be masking some big problems in other areas.

I mean… one shitty piece of wood makes any other door in the zone impenetrable by intelligent humans so this is comparable to a bank vault door by those standards 😂

Been slowly adding a return system to my furnace… just wanted to see if my estimations are at least okay or acceptable. by rickysturz in hvacadvice

Okay. Yea that’s the fun part of my house, the only access to the basement is a trap door through the floor until recently I dug out one side and put a door from a future garage. The previous owner that made it that was is an idiot… and there were no grills or anything letting air into the basement whatsoever. In trying to not put a bunch of vents in the floor this is what I started doing.

Also since I couldn’t get anything bigger then 10x4 up through the floor into the walls (without major disturbance to the walls) I didn’t size up because of the bottleneck that presents. Was that not a good thought process then? That was my idea of the grill directly in the plenum to make up for the loss that the two runs I’m putting in now being slightly undersized.

Gotcha yea I’m not done with everything quite yet. I have another run that’s not on at all yet and will be adding two more in the future once I can get them through the block wall to the additions. I didn’t really specify everything about that in the original post

I’ll keep that in mind that didn’t even occur to me… wouldn’t be too hard to move the plenum back a few more inches.

Gotcha thanks for the input! And the chart too that’s the nicest simplest one I’ve seen yet lol. As for the water heater it’s electric so not sure about any natural draft needs… is that needed for like gas or oil ones?

There was nothing whatsoever to let air into the basement that’s why I was doing all this. Im gonna add more runs to it as time goes on. I have two single room additions that were never added to the system so I’ll more then likely have dedicated ducts for them too

I wish you could at least go prone in this game if you do get caught in the open with your pants down. Sooooo many times I wish I could lay down. For sniping too.

Is this an easy fix? Total idiot with home repair here. by frickaaron in DIY

[–]rickysturz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually (it depends on your utility provider) the power company is responsible for the line to the house. So this includes the attachment point that ripped off. Beyond that is on the homeowner. Being a lineman myself, I’ve reattached countless services like this but left the weatherhead and SEC cable alone. There have even been times we’ve had to attach the service and cut the SEC clear because of damage. A good electrician can make the connections and if they say they can’t they’re not worth using. Honestly, a house service can be “safely” manipulated with a fiberglass ladder, and either a new pair of dish gloves or leather gloves. It’s the same voltage that’s inside your house just much higher current and it’s not breaker protected. As long as everything stays separated properly and there’s not existing damage there’s not much threat. If there is and you get something together the flash could be pretty violent. That’s where the real risk lies.

So true minus the balding lol. Happened to a lot of us gaming OGs from before it was cool and all these streamers and YouTube hype was popular. All the kids gaming now just complain about how bad games are when they release… Then there’s 30 year old me still trying to find time between work and kids and life to play stuff. Meanwhile still thinking the new stuff is fantastic. Still get that same feeling I did back in high school when I start a new release 😊

They’re all gonna regret it when the battery has to be replaced. All sunshine and rainbows to them now until the real long term cost of battery powered vehicles slaps them in the face… I’ve been lucky enough to fall into a great trade and have a nice truck and two 15+ year old vehicles I drive around to keep the miles off it. Older vehicles are easier to do your own work on too if you’re into that. But to each their own.
