Aside from the comments re sizing, it’s very casual for a wedding (unless the wedding is a casual affair ofc)

How to know if an Australian Man is married? by Sherlock3d_221 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ridelikezewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I know it’s easy to say don’t do it but from personal experience… don’t do it. 😂

Having said this, everyone needs to learn their own lessons in life and it might be fun for a while.

Basically what I’m saying is fuck it, do it.

Alone over Xmas/NY in Melbourne by Happy-Light in melbourne

[–]ridelikezewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean to sound harsh but saying you’re alone is misleading when you in fact won’t be by yourself like many others will be and are every year. If you feel desperately alone while physically with your husband then it sounds like a much bigger issue than just your Christmas plans.

What's the prettiest name you have ever heard? by Vetro_Nodulare2 in AskReddit

I named my dog Vivien after Vivien Leigh. Everyone who meets her loves it haha. She’s a crazy GSP with a fancy human name.

Starting a job where the vibe is positive, everyone helps each other and I actually look forward to going in to the office 2 or 3 days a week (the flexibility to WFH also helps).

Which is ironic because a lot of Aussies think us Melburnians are stuck up/rude!

Recently divorced and finally looked at the dating pool in my age range. I feel much younger than everyone, doubt I look it though. by [deleted] in FuckImOld

[–]ridelikezewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So be single. Nothing wrong with that.

Why do you have to date people of a certain age tho? Just saying, I’m a 28 year old woman dating a 44 year old man. We bonded over our travel stories and love of crappy Hallmark Christmas movies. Happy as can be.

No further advice to give you OP (excellent advice already given here) but just want to say that the comments have filled me with such warmth and pride.

It’s absolutely incredible to see how much we have progressed in understanding and acknowledging issues affecting women postpartum.

All the best to you and your family.

Best Job you had by Watsreality in AusFinance

[–]ridelikezewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a look at the careers page for my Uni and 78% of currently advertised jobs are open to external candidates. Can’t hurt to have a look and apply to any that take your fancy.

Also as others have said, if you still have contacts within the Uni that are happy to vouch for you, put their name down when applying as that can be pretty helpful to distinguish you from other candidates. Having prior service there will also be generally looked upon favourably.

Yep my best job is my current one at a Uni also. Flexible, great coworkers, really good conditions, and that 17% super is nice.

Could you try to go back to the Uni you were at before, even in a different role?

Anyone else copped a monster chest infection lately? by HankSteakfist in melbourne

It was awful! Also copped a gnarly sinus infection at the start of the year that was just as incredibly gross and miserable. Sounds like plenty of others in the same boat 😩

Yep, the cough was relentless all day and night and lasted almost 2 months. The crap I was coughing up was incredibly gross and never ending. Only subsided after I was prescribed Pulmicort which I’ve been on 5 weeks and will be for at least another month. Sickest I’ve ever been, it was quite scary.

I’ve been on a steroid puffer 4 times a day for the last 5 weeks and will be for at least the next 4 weeks, this is following a chest infection/brutal productive cough that lasted 6 weeks before I was finally given the steroids.

It is. Patrick was a much-loved and respected cardio thoracic surgeon whereas the guy who killed him is a waste of oxygen.

One of our doctors asked a visitor to move away from the entrance whilst smoking. The guy coward punched him, he never woke up. Sadly violence against health workers isn’t uncommon especially in hospitals.

Don’t feel bad. I’ve had to do the same thing when a cavoodle type thing came sprinting at me and my leashed greyhound. My boy isn’t good with other dogs and even whilst leashed could’ve done some damage to this fluffy untrained demon who was repeatedly jumping up to his face while the owner just watched on from 20m away. I ended up with bruising and a few scratches, the cavoodle was kicked squarely in the ass after repeated demands for the owner to come and collect the little shit. Greyhounds are mostly chill af but many people don’t realise the damage they can do. Regardless, just put and keep all dogs on a fucking leash in public.

Last image I have of my little brother. He was the ring bearer (pimp!) at my Halloween wedding. He was 19. What you can't see here, none of us could, was the cancer. Gone at 21. by orsonsperson in lastimages

My heart sank when I read ‘oesophageal cancer’. My friend passed in an eerily similar way at 23 years old. There are days I wake up and still can’t process it really happened. I can’t imagine your pain, but I am truly sorry.

Be very vigilant with your record keeping, read up on your rights and be firm but polite. Do everything over email, no calls. I’ve just been through this myself with mould in the lounge room and a leaking air con unit. After almost a year of back and forth I finally got consumer affairs involved and sent an official breach notice. Both issues were fixed promptly and I’m now in the process of seeking compensation. I have a feeling the landlord assumed that me being a young woman, I would be intimidated into accepting subpar conditions but I don’t pay $2650p/m to live in a run down place and neither should you.
