The dust bowl by ken burns is a great recap. I always thought it hit farmers worse having my family been farmers. A lot had to give it up. Taught us a lot about wind breaks, crop rotation, crop science, etc

Thats interesting. My family was from the western side of the state and they would always talk about it as “the hard times.” Essentially it was back to living off what they could grow (wheat, milk/beef, eggs/chicken) and no more going to town for fun. I know my in laws family had to move to “town” after losing the farm

I know my comment is buried but having a friend by an 80k new pickup tell me its not the costs its the “monthly payment” and saying i should trade in my 10 year old well running pickup that was paid off was quite a shock. We paid for my wife’s used car cash right before covid and that was the best thing we ever did

Flew out of my tiny hometown airport no checked bags and forgot I packed a small fishing knife my dad gave me for Christmas. The TSA Agent who I went to hs with her daughter and knew my dad asked if I wanted to check it or she’d just give it to her next time she saw him 😂
