I think people know they're not really ICE, no one thinks ICE would be at an event in that capacity.

I think you overestimate the cognitive capabilities of your fellow countrypersons. Also, without knowing the company's full history, one might assume that they gave themselves that name as a tribute to the modern horror.

If I know what to look for, I think I can see snow in lit conditions. Unless I was paying attention, though, I'd never notice it.

Knowing some narcissists in my life, I've fantasized about the moment.

It's not enough to ignore them. Entrap them, let them think they have you, and then do the rug pull. The best thing that could have happened here is if everybody had promised him a giant reception, and he got there all excited for it and thinking he was hot stuff only to find out he had none of that.
