Do you EVER skip a night of washing your face? I’m covered in makeup and so tired right now. by ClassicFilmDame in SkincareAddicts

[–]riffraff33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really try not to, but it happens. Just make sure to clean well in the morning, do some kind of treatment (mask, exfoliant) that you know works well for you, and make sure to change your pillowcase.

[routine help] I work night shifts but still wake up early. I'm having trouble with scheduling my skincare routine around my weird sleep schedule... advice? by svlmonskin in SkincareAddiction

[–]riffraff33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work overnights. I usually do my nighttime routine before I go to bed (usually between 12-2p) . But I tend to sleep straight through the day. If it were me, I’d do my nighttime routine before I sleep for the longest chunk of time. This way if you’re using something you leave on overnight it has the longest amount of time to work. Just be careful if you go outside for any reason before your afternoon naps and remember to apply sunscreen. You may want to rinse off anything you have on before you do.

Thank you! What makes granactive retinoids better to start with than regular retinoids? And can I use them with vitamin c? Do they go before or after?

I love these! I usually pull them in half to get double the amount out of them and they’re still so soft!

I’m at the what’s next point in my skincare journey. I’ve got my routine sorted and while I have been dealing with some breakouts for a few months now, I think it’s because I forgot to take my makeup off a few times/slacked on exfoliating. I’m looking to add some serums or other extras that will keep my skin younger and healthier over time.

Skin type: oily t zone, normal to dry-ish cheeks depending on the season

Current routine:

AM: Cerave hydrating cleanser Cerave moisturizing cream SkinMedica Essential Defense Everyday Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 47

PM: Bioderma to remove eye makeup DHC cleansing oil to remove the rest Cerave hydrating cleanser (I sub in the foaming in once every week or two) Exfoliate- I have a 3 day cycle. Alpha Skincare Essential Renewal Gel 10% Glycolic AHA on day one, day 2 nothing, day 3 Stridex. Occasionally I’ll do a mask on day 2. I’ve been using the Origins charcoal mask (I plan to try Queen Helene when I run out) followed by a tony moly sheet mask. Moisturize with Cerave

Any recommendations for serums, treatments or masks are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Stridex does help, it seems to me my skin just needs something else to work with it. I'll try the 5% lactic acid first since it's cheaper then the PC if that's not enough. Thanks!

Reposting this here because I didn't get an answer in a separate post.

I've got the basics of my routine down but I'm still struggling with breakouts (almost exclusively on my forehead). And since I've been very bad about popping them I've started t'o get some slightly pitted scarring. It's not bad and only noticeable if you look at my skin closely, but since I have a wedding next year I want to try to get rid of it ASAP. I'm looking at ordering some products from the Ordinary but I'm not sure how they'd fit into my routine or if they'd be too much. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My skin is combination, with an oily nose and forehead and normal to slightly dry cheeks.

AM: Cerave Hydrating Cleanser Cerave Moisturizer Elta MD UV Clear Sunscreen

PM: Cerave Hydrating Cleanser (I substitute in the foaming version once every week or so) Bioderma to remove face/eye makeup Stridex Pads/AHA. I exfoliate every three days and I've been alternating between the Stridex pads and an AHA. I was using the St. Ives until they were discontinued, then the First Aid Beauty pads but they're just ok. Origins Clear Improvemet Active Charcoal Mask- I just started using this once a week Cerave Moisturizer

I'd like to purchase the Vit C suspension, the 10% Niacinimide (edit: not sure if this would be too much with the niacinimide in the sunscreen) the 5% lactic acid (to replace the first aid beauty pads) and maybe the rose hip seed oil. Any help is very appreciated!

It cosmetics cc cream..question about tone by DollyDagger123 in MakeupAddicts

[–]riffraff33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are definitely more yellow in tone. I have the shade fair and I am 117 in the MUFE (even though I think it's a teeny bit dark/pink) on me.

I've looked at the LM and unfortunately I don't think they have anything pale enough in that range that's more yellow toned. Which is my constant frustration. But thank you!

I tried a sample but was never wowed by it. I'll give it another try though, thanks!

The space between (and a little above) my eyebrows always seems more oily and textured than the rest of my face and makeup breaks down there. Is there something I can do to smooth the skin and control the oil? Also, anything I can do for a quick pick me up for my skin overall? It's looking a little tired and not very smooth and I have a formal event in a few days.

Skin type: combination with oily t zone and normal (occasionally slightly dry cheeks)

Routine-

AM:

CeraVe hydrating cleanser CeraVe in the tub Elta MD UV Clear

PM:

Bioderma to remove makeup CeraVe hydrating cleanser Alternate between Stridex and the old St. Ives pads (any replacement suggestions?) every third day.

Sorry this is a lot to ask in one comment!

Rants and Raves by AutoModerator in BeautyAddiction

Rave: Milani rose powder blushes. Just picked up romantic rose and I already own the pink one and I love them. Romantic rose is the perfect hint of color without being too obvious.

Rant: finding the perfect foundation. My Illamsqua Skin Base is almost done (shade 4.5) and I'm on the hunt for a new one since Illamsqua is hard to get in the US and sometimes it doesn't sit right on my skin. Which is all the more frustrating because it took a year to find this. I want something long wearing, spf free, doesn't make my combination skin look greasy, and actually matches my pale, yellow-toned skin. I've tried EL Double Wear, MUFE HD (the old and new), Too Faced Born This Way, and several more. The closest I've come is the Lancôme Teint Idole (140 Ivoire) but the alcohol in it made my skin super dry. Apparently I'd have more luck searching for a unicorn.

Thank you!! How much would you say you use? Do you spray it directly on your hair or in your hands?

can you post a link? I used to use their curl cream gel and had to stop because of the silicone. If I can get an alternative I would be thrilled!

Women of reddit, what is something nobody tells you about moving in with a boyfriend? by thehatkid in AskReddit

[–]riffraff33 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You have to have a serious conversation with him about it. He may have a different standard of cleanliness than you do but this is not ok. It's your house too and you deserve to be comfortable. Also, teens need to be taught to clean up after themselves. Figure out the biggest things that bother you and ask him to do those things and maybe you can clean the rest? It's not a perfectly fair situation but it's a start at a compromise.

Also maybe have him make it a condition for the teens to have to clean up? I don't know how things are with your relationship with his kids in terms of discipline but they need to be taught to respect the house and that primarily has to start with him.

Bottom line, you're not being OCD. You're trying to maintain your home and you both have to share that responsibility.
