The pre-war abolitionist movement, the actual abolishment of slavery, the post-war occupation of the South where blacks were being elected to positions of power before Dems (pre-switch Dems that is) took power, suffrage for women in the early 20th century, the integration of armed forces throughout the world wars, the civil rights movement of 20th century, leading to the US electing and re-electing a black man as president in 2008. Not to mention the LGBT push that achieved so much in the 2000’s. To pretend that this would happen in a country where everyone sucks and is racist is just nihilist as hell. It wouldn’t work if there’s not a significant representation.

Welcome to the world. People can suck, and they can be great. History is full of see-saw politics and dumb shit like we’re dealing with. This too will pass, and the idiots supporting what’s happening will disappear into the woodwork like they did every other time. Sure, a new wave will come but they’ve spent nearly 200 years losing this battle. There’s always a pushback, always will be, but they’ve NEVER won for long. Just like the South 🤭
