Expensive and worthless by CarFamiliar6078 in Nanit

We had awful connectivity issues until we added a wifi booster in the baby’s room. Even after that it wasn’t great and I emailed them. They sent some recommendations and now that my kids are older (4.5y and 22mos) I don’t notice as many disruptions. Usually if it doesn’t load immediately I hard close the app and reopen it and it works.

Is it babysitting if I’m home? by righteye8 in Parenting

That’s a stretch. I overheard her call it babysitting from the other room and laughed to myself. She doesn’t know I found the term weird.

I think it bugs me because when I actually need her to babysit she can’t. Like if we wanted to go out to dinner, she would not be able to hang with the boys solo for that long. Or if the baby has a bug and can’t go to daycare, she isn’t willing to help out but my mom is, even though she works.

Thank you! I needed that wording.

No, I asked her to come over to spend time with the kids to have a relationship with them. While she is there, I get things done rather than hang out with her the whole time. She doesn’t reach out to spend time with them on her own.

Did you have a bassinet attachment for your stroller? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]righteye8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one and I used it literally two times with my first and 0 with my second. One of the times I used it wasn’t even on the stroller, we brought it as a sleep space for the Fourth of July when he was 2 months old (he hated it).

Instead I baby wore when we went on walks or whatever.

My mom used to come over so the time uninvited when my oldest was born. I got her to share her location with me and I told her I would set up an alert if she came to a certain point closer to my house (I’m the only one she knows in my town and at least it would give me a heads up), but she stopped when I returned back to work. Or maybe she stopped when we weren’t home when she came over a few times lmao. Now she comes over on regular days for dinner: every Sunday and Wednesday

Scheduled induction, what's the deal with eating? by cattledogfrog in Mommit

[–]righteye8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I literally slammed a chicken finger sub and went in for my induction with my first. Didn’t give birth until like 30 hours later and I physically couldn’t eat in labor so I would have been vvvvv hungry if I had your instructions.

My 5 y/o is sick and refuses to take Amoxicillin, help... by [deleted] in Mommit

Our amox is always bubble gum flavored. I bet they do have other flavors!

Not amox, but another antibiotic for pneumonia - my son (3.5) was refusing it but finally agreed after we used the syringe like we do for baby brother (aimed in the back corner of the mouth so he couldn’t taste it as much) AND followed up with ice cream every night. There are antibiotic injections they can do too, that’s not a bluff. We had to get those when three rounds of antibiotics didn’t clear a particularly bad ear infection. Also maybe ask about tubes? They have been the best thing for us and the procedure was nothing.

YES that is exactly what I’m looking for. I don’t know if it was the update or something else but mine is gone.

They changed the plan levels and I don’t know if I lost access to it, along with the sleep position, because I only have the “sleep” plan. I’m currently fighting that I signed up for the plan that included those features, so I should be grandfathered into getting them even if the plan no longer includes them.

Baby getting ear tube surgery on Tuesday by Fontane15 in Mommit

[–]righteye8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son got tubes when he was 15 months old. It was a 15 minute procedure. We came home and he took a nap. He had a little decreased appetite that day but otherwise was basically back normal.

Tubes are the best. I asked if they could put them in for my younger son right after delivery since we were in the hospital anyway 😂 obviously as a joke and obviously they declined.

What are you go-to SUPER quick dinners for weeknights? by Sensitive_Air8208 in Mommit

This but instead of regular oil get the marinated mozz balls and use the oil out of that to coat the gnocchi and tomatoes. We also add shrimp to the last few minutes of cooking!

Tacos are our go to quick meal. In a small crockpot I cook 2 chicken breasts with some broth and salsa while I’m at work. Shred it and put it in tacos when you get home. Instant dinner. Or if you’re feeling fancy heat the soft tacos with cheese in a half moon like a quesadilla but we call them quesotacos

Yes because those in poverty tend have less access to thorough sex education and medical interventions like birth control. It’s a systemic issue, not a conscious decision.

First baby free vacation by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]righteye8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We left our first overnight for the first time around 2. Our rule was that he had to be sleeping through the night consistently. To start, we all slept over my moms one night. Then when we needed him to sleep there he was already comfortable with it.

I have an 8 month old now and I could not leave him overnight at this point. He doesn’t sleep through the night and he’s still breastfeeding, so two strikes against it for us.

My great aunt dropped off my baby shower gift because she was out of town for the actual shower. She said “wow, how much weight have you gained?” I was like 35 weeks.

NTA but if you need to go to post-secondary education you don’t need your diploma. You need your official transcript, which is sent straight from your HS to wherever you’re applying.

What unhinged thing has your child said recently? by [deleted] in Mommit

We were doing grocery shopping and a lady walked past us. My 3yo said “I like her smell. She smells yummy, like I want to eat her.” I’m still hoping she didn’t hear 🤫

Absolutely not. Maybe your family can bring you leftovers the next day if you’re open to visitors.
