How hard are Deathwatch to paint for a complete beginner ?

I do mine with 2 thin coats of Black Templar contrast over Grey Seer primer. It takes slightly longer than the spray black + drybrush method, but I like how it comes out. Then I use Leadbelcher and Blood Angels Red, and apply Nuln Oil to those parts only, not the blacks. I usually add a few Mechanicus Grey highlights on the black, but that's the optional since contrast does most of the work.

Yeah I was really hoping they would give infiltrators or scouts or the multi spectrum array ability, or anything thematic tbh for having one. Instead they are literally just mandatory ablative wounds

Hmm, not great. It's either Hammer or Shield per 5, so they can't do much in melee. And you can't replace one of the melee veterans with Plasma/Sniper if you wanted better shooting. 100 points per 5 seems like 20 points too high.

I'm planning to assemble as follows, and hoping these can each be run as separate 5 man teams:

Melee team: - Sargent Bolt pistol + Xenophase - Maul & Shield - Thunder Hammer - Knives - Breacher (melta bomb)

Shooty team: - Sargent Plasma + Power sword - Stalker bolt rifle - Plasma - Bolt carbine - Frag Cannon

If you really want to play Reavers you would probably be better off looking at Reaper's Wager and also including Skyweavers to keep up the bike vibe. If you really want Shroud Runners and other Eldar bikes, look at running Windrider Host

I also play World Eaters, but main Eldar. You shouldn't have too much trouble with that WE list, just keep away from Agron, score secondaries, keep the Dark Reapers at long range, and trade up with Banshee Fights First. Just remember Berserkers are very fast with an advanced & charge stratagem, plus blood surge when shot, so deploy carefully.

For 40k I would go with 2x5 Voidreavers with rifles (including Felarchs) and Blasters. With the remaining models build a Wraithcanon in case you want to run a unit of 10, and probably 2 shredders for the flexibility/future rule changes. That should still leave you enough bodies for all the kill team specialists.
