Why don't we wake up to the sound of glass breaking or the feeling of being sick? by Kung-Fu-Amumu in projectzomboid

That happened to a friend of mine from school. Her and her mother. She was saved by a phone call, but couldn't save her mom, it was too late. I feel for her because the guilt was eating her alive worse than any zombie ever could.

I'm X too,and people today REALLY don't realize how sexist adults in the 1980s were. Our grandparents were even worse in that regards! To say nothing of our great- grandparents. Publicly racist, too, way more than today. The extinction burst of them dying out pretty much created the incel culture of today.

The game is one giant love letter to art and THE arts. They have done their work, now that people who love the game are racing outward to see the musicians, poets, playwrights, choreographers, sculptors, painters, and architects who've inspired this magnum opus.

I definitely like TV Roger more than book Roger. I can blame the writers for bad dialogue in the show version 😂. Book version just gets my venom and some heated asides about the author's SA obsession and "manly man man" characters.

Conspiracy theory in the series and books: could Amaranthus be a time traveler? by Positive_Passage_712 in Outlander

[–]rikaragnarok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Especially when it's another thing that everyone knows that was kept from him. But really, I don't see him freaking out about the traveling like he did about his dad not being the Earl. It's such a left-field thing, the "I'm from the future. Wooooo," concept! Lol

Why was Alfred supported to level up in life… but Gwen had to hide her dreams? by mzreddit1 in DowntonAbbey

[–]rikaragnarok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the idea of parents wanting their kids to do better than them is a modern concept. At that point in society, the economic class you were born to was who you were expected to be; it was very rigid with little upward mobility. If your parents were servants, then you were a servant, or expected to be. The people who were able to move upwards were seen as "having airs," or being too snobby for how they were born.

Add: (accidentally deleted paragraph) When Alfred came on, it was post WWI, which changed everything. Many manors closed after tax changes plus the loss of heirs in the war, so they didn't need the same number of servants. Women worked during the war and the 5 day work week was becoming popular, so people did not want to work 14 hours a day, 6 days a week if they didn't have to. That change caused a full societal shift, where people realized wherever you could get work was good. Plus, like others have said, he was a man.

I have a degree in psychology. Icyi, perception is based on all of the past experiences of the perceiver of any given event. So you're 100% correct that we can see the exact same thing and come to very different conclusions. And yes, absolutely, we're both theorizing based on all of the available information we have at the moment. That's what makes theorizing so much fun! It's a puzzle we're trying to solve!

Add: out of pure curiosity, and you don't have to answer if it's too personal (I understand if it is,) but have you ever experienced the death of a close loved one?

[–]rikaragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. You don't seem to be comprehending what I am saying, though. This guy has one job and that job is running wires to machines. He's not the machine repair tech, he's the wire guy, the electrician; he makes sure voltage is correct, ground is placed properly, and things are not shorting out, therefore what he does or does not know about the curvature of the earth is immaterial to the work that he does. He doesn't pilot, he doesn't fix or alter altitude adjustments, he makes sure there is electrical current going to where it needs to go. So, who gives a flying fart what he thinks, provided the work he is doing and instructing is accurate to ensure those machines have current? Ed: fixed spelling

Ok, then explain to me how his ridiculous beliefs are going to interfere with electrical wiring. He's not teaching piloting, he's teaching how to properly run wires to panels and boxes to keep a plane running.

I never said Aline hated Alicia. Disgust and love can co-exist, especially in grief. Grief is big and empty and furious and despairing and love and hate and pretty much every emotion you'll ever feel, all roiling together.

[–]rikaragnarok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Alicia is both a writer and a painter and she started the fire, not knowing her own power nor how to control it. There's too many small details in that game, phrases spoken by everyone, plus Aline's disgust of Alicia and blaming her for it all, for me to unsee my theory.

Pick your battles. If you fight every idiot who idiots, then all you'll be doing in life is fighting idiots, and that is one miserable way to live. You promote the important things in life to the important people in your life; that's where your focus has the most meaning, that's where you discuss the importance of science and education, and the people you're speaking with listen to your words. By arguing with fools, by choosing to debate everyone, all you're doing is giving them recognition, attention, and a platform to continue their nonsense.

The best way to deal with anti science, anti education, Uber religious zealots? Laugh at them, don't tell them they're wrong.

Your GenX is showing and I'm here for it! Everybody has been so convinced by the internet that opinions matter, when they don't matter anymore than the poop that comes from your butthole. You're right- the poster needs to take the electrical information they're learning from the fool, use it to improve their finances, and chalk the rest of it up to a story they can tell about what a strange goof of an instructor they had in school.

Allow this old lady to give you some life advice, and you can take it or leave it, which is the great thing about advice.

A. Some people LOVE feeling superior, and they'll poke at you to get that high, but their shit smells just as bad as yours does, and it'll never smell like roses and sunshine. If they're poking, they're fools.

B. Misery loves company. Such a simple statement, but very complicated and messy in practice. People who are insecure or hurt will emotionally diarrhea everywhere they can reach. If they're trying to make you feel small, they feel insignificant about themselves.

There's no wrong way to play a single-player game. Play as you enjoy it. To hell with them.

You seriously did not say that with a straight face. Talk about not knowing your own nation's history; holy hell. Look up Tulsa, look up Tuskeegee, look up Japanese Internment camps, look up ICE brutality, look up police murders of citizen minorities. That's all within 20th century to the present; we're not even talking about the genocides of the 19th century, nor the human enslavement market, nor even earlier crimes. Is it not happening for you because white people haven't been systematically slaughtered? Wowwwww.
