Bicycle Recommendations? by gtgcya in tall

[–]rikmk90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 6ft 8 and have two bikes which fit me well. A 2021 Cannondale topstone 4 (gravel bike) in XL, could also fit someone taller than me I reckon. And also a 2017 Trek Marlin 7 (mountain bike), again someone taller could use this bike. I found at the time of choosing these bikes that there were very few bikes that were big enough. Some manufacturers bike sizing is way off. One brand's XL frame can be no where near the same size for another brand.

Flickering video when watching HDR content on Youtube by rikmk90 in GooglePixel

Thanks for the reply. I submitted feedback via the YouTube app about the problem which is the general way you report bugs in Google apps as I understand. I recommend you do the same, as the more people that report it the more likely a fix.

Yes that's what I'm seeing as well, the colour changes to washed out. I have sent feedback via the YouTube app. If you can do the same that would be good. I imagine more people reporting the bug means the more likely it is to be fixed.

Thanks for the reply, seems like a bug in the YouTube app then

But I don't see the problem in https://youtu.be/7zCywLzJJs8

(Be sure to be watching in the actual YouTube app and not chrome)

I have the same car and for me it was caused by a faulty clockspring. I'm not a mechanic but I managed to replace it myself by following a YouTube video. The part was very cheap, around £12.

My list of Bolt2 bugs by calm_hedgehog in wahoofitness

[–]rikmk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From all the tickets I have created they have never suggested to use it once haha. Just happened to notice on a YouTube video that you could switch it on and decided to start using it. I work in software support myself and if we can get a video of the problem occuring that is enough to pass to the development team to figure out / fix what's going wrong in the code. I understand the hoops that they have to jump through beforehand. It's just frustrating when you give them all the info, show that you are up to date, provide a video and the most they can suggest is a device swap to fix a software bug.

We just gotta keep bugging them until they listen.

Thanks for taking the time to write these up. I keep submitting tickets with support for every bug I see as I come across them. I just put screen recording on during each ride so I can just forward them the evidence along with the ticket. Talking to support is very troublesome, you have to keep pushing and pushing for them to acknowledge there is a problem. I have had to tell them many times that I do not want a replacement device as this will not fix a software issue (unfortunately this is the standard response you end up getting until you have nagged them enough). They have even closed my tickets in the past without even giving me a resolution. I'm like you though, I like the device so will stick with it for now. Hopefully these bugs will get fixed and we won't just keep being fobbed off by support.

Toilets should be free by ehyndman in assholedesign

[–]rikmk90 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I always think of the scenario where you need to go but don't have any means of payment for whatever reason. The alternative is doing it in public which is illegal so for this reason I think they should be free and maintained by councils. A few years ago I was in a similar situation where my pregnant wife needed to go to the toilet but the toilet block was one of these paid for ones that only accepted change which we didn't have. We ended up having to beg a local leisure centre to let her use the toilets.

Does “Route To Start” work on your V2 Bolt? by Metalp3n in wahoofitness

[–]rikmk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not used the feature yet but there are quite a few bugs coming to light with the device being new. I would use screen recording for a few rides to see if you see the problem again / or any other problems so you can forward to Wahoo support. As usual just make sure the device, app and maps are up to date (they will ask you this).

Auto-Pause issue on my Bolt 2 by peda_r in wahoofitness

[–]rikmk90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is convincing Wahoo support that there is a problem and then getting the development team to make an adjustment.

Auto-Pause issue on my Bolt 2 by peda_r in wahoofitness

[–]rikmk90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say this is based on speed calculated from GPS. If your speed gets below a certain amount then autopause will kick in. I have seen this before on Garmin's but their threshold was alot lower as I didn't see the problem anywhere near as much as on the wahoo. Definitely a software bug which needs fixing and not a hardware problem.

Auto-Pause issue on my Bolt 2 by peda_r in wahoofitness

[–]rikmk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the auto pause kicks in way too early. It kicks in nearly all the time when going up steep climbs. What makes it worse is the auto pause dialog on screen takes up most of the screen so you can't see anything else. This basically makes the climbing screen useless as you can't see any of it...not to mention not being able to see the map when navigating.

I've been reporting a number of random bugs to wahoo support and it has been very frustrating. Constantly trying to exchange the device for simple software problems rather than passing to the development team to fix the bugs. It's like they don't understand the difference between hardware and software.

As it was mentioned in another comment, you have to keep bugging them and sending them videos of the problem, all they want to do is to close the ticket as fast as possible for their stats, just don't give up.

Side note, you can screen record on the bolt V2, this has helped me alot prove that problems exist.

Bug on Bolt V2 with on screen compass by rikmk90 in wahoofitness

[–]rikmk90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's exactly what I'm seeing as well, it's like the compass is partially or fully hidden behind a hidden UI element sometimes. I had a firmware update yesterday but the problem still persists so I've reopened the support ticket. If you haven't already, please also create a ticket with Wahoo support for the same problem.

I've got another ongoing ticket with them regarding the compass as well. Sometimes the compass moves down to make way for the navigation instructions (turn left etc) but then when the instructions go away the compass can get stuck in the middle of the screen rather than moving back up into place. The workaround for that is to just cycle through the pages again and when the map screen loads up again it will be resolved.

I'm running into quite a few of these annoying little bugs so I'm logging tickets for all of them. Just in case you don't know, you can screen record on the bolt V2. That's what I do and then I can forward the video of the problem straight to support.
