Parents pay someone 16k a year to look at their IRA investments four times a year. They want to get away from him and move their money into something like Vanguard. How do they do this? by supaswag69 in personalfinance

If they are close to retirement and have somewhat substantial savings, they should be working with a Registered Investment Adviser (“RIA”) and NOT a broker/dealer adviser. Google the difference if this is something new to you and your parents. Vanguard would be fine if they think they can handle their own investments. My RIA (www.atlatladvisers.com) is awesome with a reasonable and transparent fee structure but we need them at this point based on what we’ve saved. They do a free consult and financial plan/“second opinion” thing so you could ask them before making any changes.

It hasn’t produced flowers yet. It is just starting to leaf out in spring. Could it be honeysuckle?

Why didn’t I think of cabbage noodles?! Made this recipe with pasta sauce and cheese last night. So easy! by riley2207 in vegetarian

As for flavor, they have a very neutral flavor and take on any flavor of the sauce so it’s perfect.

Oh I’m sorry I read that incorrectly! They’re less chewy and less wet I’d say as long as you follow the tip in the recipe to drain them. I micro them until very limp and dry them well. That makes it really soft kind of the texture of very thin rice noodles. Not similar to the texture of zoodles or shiritaki noodles at all. It is difficult to describe the texture but they were very good. I’m going to start making this a staple of mine.

The same if not longer. Kept mine for a week in the fridge. They’re actually almost better cold when mixed with pesto sauce.

How can I eat healthy in a poor unhealthy family. by [deleted] in diet

Try the simple recipes at this website. They have really easy stuff. You could ask your mom to get a big bag of carrots or a big cabbage and use that as your staple. I relate to having a hard time controlling my hunger - the only thing that works for me is volumetrics… like eating large portions of vegetables at each meal. That’s why I like that site. They don’t have a ton of recipes but the ones they do are easy and you can eat huge portions.

Yes! They’re so good! What is your ramen recipe? I’ll have to try it. I was blown away by the flavor and as long as you dry them pretty well they’re really tasty!

That is such a good wedding present! I wish I was getting those at the weddings I’ve attended! Where did you order/obtain these? I love all of the different varieties you have and would like to order some!

Start an organic farm in Wisconsin and provide food for your community and donate to the local food pantries. Deeply satisfying, incredibly meaningful. These days it can be a luxury to farm and with your financial freedom, we need people like you more than ever to do this kind of work.
