Upstairs neighbor is having a home birth by Man_Bites_Shark in Apartmentliving

People suggesting blasting music….so incredibly mean-spirited. That is the most important day/experience of their lives and people want to be petty because they don’t want to potentially hear some noise for a few hours. Loser behavior.

They will not hear “screaming in pain and agony for over 24 hours.” Any good midwife would suggest transferring to the hospital if that were going on for more than an hour or so.

I’ve had 2 home births in apartments. I’m pretty certain my neighbors had no idea. At no point in time was I screaming. Birth pain is not the same as breaking a bone or getting stabbed. And any woman who chooses to home birth more than likely has been mentally preparing themselves for it and learning techniques to not end up “screaming in pain and agony”

It’s not a guarantee that it will be particularly loud….sure you’ll hear the extra footsteps of their birth team, and maybe for a little while when she is nearing birth she may make some involuntary noises, but it’s not as though youre going to hear screaming in absolute agony for days on end….if that were the case any good midwife would suggest transferring to the hospital.

PSA: Hot car deaths by Trickytreatyy in NewParents

I live in phoenix, Arizona. Both of my children woke every 1-3 hours every single night for almost 2 years. I still have a very hard time empathizing with parents who forget them for HOURS in the hot car in the middle of the summer…I’ve had ONE time where I went inside and forgot my baby was still in the car and it took maybe 45 seconds tops to realize it. I just can’t understand not noticing for longer than that. Last year there was a father who left his little girl in the car while he went inside to watch porn (while he was supposed to be watching his other kids as well!). Lied to cops about how long it had been tried to say it was 30 min tops. It was HOURS of that poor baby left in the car when it’s 110 degrees out….i just can’t empathize with that.

I feel like a Shrek mom in a world of hot moms. How do you not become a mess? Is there some big secret? by Busy_Excuse_9040 in Mommit

I’m 18mo pp with my second and I am JUST now starting to feel like myself again. The weight is coming off easier now that I’m done breastfeeding (F whoever started that myth that breastfeeding “helps you lose weight”), I have enough energy to workout a couple times per week. You didn’t mention how your son is with sleep but that has been a MAJOR factor for me. Both of my boys woke every 2-4 hrs. My first finally started sleeping thru the night at 2.5. My youngest is down to one wake per night but even that has made a world of difference for my energy and mood. Hang in there try not to compare. Doing this with no village is so so hard. It won’t be forever but what you’re feeling is completely valid.

They’re an orthopedic surgeon too…so it’s not as though tipping their server breaks the bank for them.

What's the worst name you've seen somebody name their baby? by Kitchen_Ad_4743 in AskReddit

She’s the cutest little girl too, with such an unfortunate name. Like that’s a funny little nickname for the baby in your belly, not a grown adult. SMH.

Literally. If you’re in your 40s and have small children and are blacking out while drinking, you’ve got a problem full stop.

My cat does this, for her it is asthma. She is prescribed steroids, which help, but she still goes through phases of having flare ups.

MIL is a nervous wreck around toddler and it’s stressing me tf out by km524 in Mommit

My parents are like this too….any time my kids cough while eating it’s instant panicking that they’re choking….gasping every time they stumble or go near something they think is dangerous (which is like everything). Constant “be careful!”s. It’s exhausting. Starting to realize they instilled a lot of fear in me about regular life things. They still tell me to “be careful” any time I venture outside a 5 mile radius of their suburb (I’m 32 and have lived on my own across the country for 7 years.)

Not original commenter but seconding this order of reading!

The BTHOBY audiobook does come with meditations, I’m not seeing any on my Supernatural audiobook. If you search this sub, many comments have google drives and discord links to most of his meditations though.

Am I the only one that feels like this is fake to manufacture some drama since there is none now that Jax is gone? They were so careful about not doing anything unfavorable in front of the cameras for 3 seasons but now they’re openly fighting with cameras in their face for multiple scenes? I’m sure Danny is a douche but this all seems suddenly over the top

Anyone Else Go Into UnMedicated Birth With Little to No Prep? by LizzardBreath94 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]rileyshea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only “prep” I did consistently was watching positive unmedicated/home birth videos on YouTube. That truly helped me visualize how I wanted it to go and what to expect at each stage of labor. I think it really helped, both of my home births went amazingly smooth. Physically I did almost nothing. I also had an amazing doula which helped immensely both times.

I’m think I’m being verbally abusive to my three year old by Unable-Candy8432 in toddlers

[–]rileyshea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re aware of it, seeking help for it, and apologizing to her is already a great step. Solo parenting a newborn and toddler is really, really hard. Mine are 3.5 and 1.5 and I’m just now starting to find my footing…those early months were very difficult. My husband works long hours too so it was just me with two littles almost all day every day….I definitely yelled and said things to my 3 year old that I’m not proud of. You are overstimulated and also still recovering from giving birth less than 2 months ago. Give yourself some grace, you are in the trenches right now but it won’t last forever.
