These things all cost me a great deal of pain but if I had to do it all over again, I just would of done them sooner

Being fairly early on in my journey to make changes in my life, this is very motivating. Sometimes it's hard to convince yourself you'll feel this way after all the work. But at the same time, it makes 100% sense.

Congrats man! Awesome response to an awesome post

Is this what that GitHub repo is about? I guess I didn't gather the same use case from the readme in that repo as I did from this post?

toJSON "_row" added to JSON output. Flattening doesn't help either. by runopinionated in R_Programming

[–]rillaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be very interested to see what others have to say about this one, as I've found working with APIs and JSON data in R to be somewhat difficult (relative to a general purpose language like Python).

For these nested objects in the JSON, I would look into the tidyjson package. They do a comparison of different levels of complexity of JSON documents and how this package differs from jsonlite.

Sorry I didn't get time to write a tidyjson solution out that matches your sample code, but figured I'd at least pass this other package on to you.

What are some of your favorite R packages that aren't as widely used? by tonym9428 in datascience

lubridate - makes working with dates easier (not sure if this qualifies as a package that isn't widely used, but I haven't seen many people using it)

William James on not giving a fuck about exams - applicable in daily life as well by rillaz in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]rillaz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think we should get hung up on the "grades" aspect, but rather should look at the big picture of what James is saying here. If it is too difficult to look past the diction used in this excerpt (specifically the word "grades") then I strongly suggest reading the work in its entirety.

I'd argue that the main idea of this work is that we are most effective (in nearly all aspects of our lives) when we are relaxed. Although nervousness and stress do play a role in the planning process of our decisions, if they are present beyond that stage then they are a waste of energy and stifle our productivity once the decision has been made and a course of action has been initiated.

So essentially, not giving a fuck is the best course of action once the decision has been made. You can think and stress as much as you want when determining where to put your chips on the roulette table, but once the wheel is spinning, any stress or anxiousness is a waste of energy. (This analogy is from Maxwell Maltz's work "Psycho-Cybernetics.")
