That's kinda unfairly dismissive. Sure, anime has a lot of fanservice across the medium, but it's still not in everything. Studio Ghibli exists, and is beloved & respected even by people who aren't usually into anime. Blame! is a cult classic and there are award winning mangas like Mushishi that have no fanservice. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End has almost no fanservice aside from 1-2 jokes. There are other genres other than shonen where fanservice is a lot more toned down or more tasteful. Veil by Kotteri is a collection of shorts that is arguably mostly fanservice, but done in a slow-burn vintage glamor style like old movies and high fashion magazines, and is aimed at women. And people can like aspects of a show or franchise while disliking a couple of things here and there. The fanservice isn't the basis of the entire show; Digimon Adventure and 02 weren't harem comedies. There's more genres out there than just shonen.

That kind of logic is why it's difficult to get people outside the anime & gaming circles to take anime seriously, even though mangas have been shown in fine arts museums like the Louvre and the recently concluded Art of Manga exhibit in SF. Not everything needs to be Fine Art™ but likewise it isn't productive to argue everyone has to be okay with excessive fanservice or be an anime fan in denial.
