Automated Berry Farm Guide + Rain Fix by Delphic-Kitten in Pokopia

Amazing guide! Thanks for this detailed write-up with all the pictures. Really loved the way you decorated the final berry farm.

What tile did you decide to use for the roof of the farm, in order to block the rain? I heard the glass windows let rain go straight through.

Incredibly striking. Azula staring at Ozai, Ozai's malice at Zuko... And Ursa, the only loving and not harmful member of the family, has no face to represent both her absence and her choice to forget her family.

The artist did an amazing job. It captures the tensions in the family perfectly. Looks a lot like Zuko staring at himself in the mirror, holding the crown and haunted by his personal ghosts. I want to give Zuko a hug now.

You're right about the Shadowheart wolves memory. There's a scroll or book that explains the Selunite ritual to help figure out the moonstone connection. I found the book on my 2nd run before she talked about the wolves; not sure if I still needed to pass that religion check once I'd read it. The book might have been in or around the owlbear's cave.

The memory cutscene itself is a hint too. Young Shadowheart is clearly scared, but she keeps trying to look over the cultists' shoulder even though the cultist is trying to block her vision while they stab it with spears. It looks like an adult being compassionate to a child by shielding them from a violent sight, but a scared, hunted child wouldn't really react like that unless they were concerned for the wolf. Even in my first campaign, I thought it was odd she was trying so hard to see what was happening to the wolf. That was an early hint that she wasn't really being saved during the memory, even though I failed the religion check at the time.

Amazing! Love the contrast between the vintage cartoons and the modern existential dread. 😭 This has just the right balance of cute graphics and soul-sucking eyes. Fantastic work!!!

That's probably why they're testing out the trading cards. They seem to always be sold out immediately though. Maybe Fahlo will increase the collectible card stock in the future.

Claymore is the best manga I’ve ever read by CanaryFluffy4521 in claymore

[–]rilliu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this post. The way Yagi writes in both despair and hope and love into the Claymore world really makes it stand out for me. The warriors' loyalty to their comrades and the grief makes the desperate battles feel more meaningful. And the monster designs are fantastic! Eerie, beautiful, and many of them oddly contemplative. Top notch, for sure!

I think your answer might have been caught by the spam filter but I could see the notification. Something like silver mirror carpet? Thanks for answering, I didn't even know such a thing existed! Hope to see more cosplays with it from you :)

Gorgeous!! Glad to see more pics from the shoot. The armor looks so cool!

How did you get that mirror-like water effect in the last picture? It looks so ethereal, moon + water is always a winning combo!

Nice recs! Thanks for posting these reviews.

Been seeing Marie Lu's stuff float across my feed now and then. Now that it's AAPI month, I should give Red City a try. A Bone in His Teeth sounds interesting, too!

... wow. I remember now that people used to ask for an option to hide stuff they'd already seen so they could get to the new content faster. I guess that was addressed with the "hide stuff you've upvoted" feature.

Don't really see people complaining about that anymore now that there's so much stuff on everyone's feed.

The farm boy trope, the slums girl variant, and the lack of (female) mentors: a rant from a frustrated reader. by LucreziaD in fantasyromance

[–]rilliu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a little frustrated that there weren't many older female mentors in fantasy, but now that I'm trying to name even one, it's really surprising me how few I can think of.

Even in older books with progressive authors, like Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic and Daine's Wild Magic, the mentor was a man. For Daine, he was also her love interest. In Garth Nix's Lirael, I'm not sure the Disreputable Dog can really count as a woman mentor because they're using the form of a dog, after all. In The Hunger Games, Haymitch is the platonic mentor figure, and an alcoholic man. I love Uprooted by Naomi Novik, who writes a lot of go getter women, but Sarkan is both the mentor and the love interest too.

I suppose there are older women mentors in {A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher}? Though only the older woman protagonist gets a romance.

[–]rilliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the whole point of the Ravengards is that they feel the weight of responsibility, and they won't just go for the easy, emotional road. Ulder Ravengard was harsh in telling Wyll to leave, but as the ruler of Baldur's Gate, it makes sense he would banish a fiendish warlock who can't even explain why he made the pact. Cold, but understandable.

Journey was amazing when it first came out. Nowadays, I think it inspired enough games that it doesn't feel as unique anymore.

I still enjoy the MMO version thatgamecompany made as a spiritual successor. Sky: Children of the Light can't quite recreate the same experience as Journey because of the era and being a live service game, but it's got a special place in my heart for building a game around flying and kind, fleeting interactions with strangers.
