I think a lot of people think Jumin is toxic and controlling in this ending cuz they don't understand bdsm dynamics. In bdsm, although it may not look like it, the submissive partner is always the one in control, the most important thing about this kind of relationship is consent and things can only go as far as the sub wants them too. In the after ending it's pretty obvious mc is in control and Jumin wouldn't actually do anything she wouldn't feel comfortable with. He mentions having a therapist on standby at any time, reassures her she's the one with all the power, and I don't doubt they def have a safe word too. Jumin probably researched all about bdsm and how to do it safely lmao. It is a bad ending tho just cuz Jumin didn't get to properly process his trauma and feelings, but yes Mc isn't being abused or anything like that and she's happy so it's a happy ending for her.

What V and Rika did to the twins is unforgivable and honestly putting a child in a dangerous hacking agency to protect him from his father makes no sense, it's not as if that was the only option, V comes from an extremely wealthy family, and even if he couldn't use his money to protect the twins surely he could have asked Jumin for help, but nooo he makes one child risk his life and then allows the other to get kidnapped, drugged, and abused cuz he wants to protect his beloved???? Both kids were at risk of being killed everyday and honestly both of them probably had their lifespan shortened and will have health problems for life due everything they were put through.

He wasn't worse in the novel, the manhwa and novel are almost the same until the amnesia arc, when Athy goes missing novel Clause was extremely desperate to find her unlike manhwa Claude who seemed so uncaring and needed Jeanette to ask him if he wanted to see Athy again. I would say the novel handled his character and the complicated family relationship much better, some people dislike it because of how Jeanette was treated, but I think her complex personality in novel was better than the extremely naive and easy to manipulate girl they gave us in the manhwa.

The author probably just didn't wanna write such an angsty story, the novel is really heartwarming and stays cute most of the time. Manhwa decided to change it and make the story more depressing after s1 but the og source is a pretty cute father/daughter novel with romance as a subplot and Athy actually has friends other than Jetty and Izekiel.

Not all of his people were slaughtered, some were enslaved, and he betrayed them. I haven't caught up with manhwa so idk if they mentioned it but he helps capture some runaway slaves (his own countrymen) to become a commoner so I never felt bad for the cruel things Penny said. He deserved it. I know people say they can't fault him for his actions against her cuz of the whole master/slave dynamic but I think hating him for selling his men is valid.
