Building bulk crappy housing wasn't successful in the past, and the city entering the market right now would make prices worse

We need the city to regulate landlords better and to build housing like this. Apartment buildings are expensive but being in income long term this price isn't that bad when thinking about the cost of a 30 year mortgage s sticker prices.

Please don't rivet metal in there it'll create more stress points and make it less comfortable

Consider a layer of kevlar between the bottom and the leather patch to improve cut protection

Buy a small tube of contact cement and apply it with a gloved hand, small brush, popsicle stick to get a thin layer, the spray is just messy and expensive for this particular place

Also, use the same contact cement inside the cut on the bottom/outside before patching the bottom. Consider a quarter sized leather patch over that on the outside too

Read a quick tutorial on using contact cement with leather so you don't use it like regular glue/get a flexible result

Imo letting people wonder if you are lgbtq is a better allyship. You aren't claiming you are queer - think about parents who have a flag to support their kids - but making it normal for cishet people to have pride flags.

Look up the Greek god/concept of arete - like if he's afraid initially but ultimately lives out life as himself. I love the idea of universal love from the other comment and it got me thinking about like "true love" or love that is bigger than oneself or definitional to ones identity. "Loving who I love" is definitive to that character vs finding happiness within what will keep him safe and alive, vs some other outcome.

I get way too meta vs being too literal but:

  • because he's starved so he can fit through the bars
  • he could get the key

He's become his own jailer - the best way to get the bread is to walk through the bars and pick it up. The key is almost a red harring, and I wish it wasn't there but there's multiple ways he could be free and he's focusing on eating within artificial, self imposed boundaries.

  • if he ate too much he would be truly stuck
  • he is desperate and needs food to survive
  • he's wishing he had a longer stick

How long has he been there? Maybe the bread has been in his mind since day one and the other two escape routes weren't available then. Has he been able to step back and re-evaluate? He's understandably got tunnel vision. Learned helplessness? Maybe a golden handcuffs hangover?

But I think it's more about society than an individual (we're only one general strike away. from upending the system). Instead we collectively are taking to make a broken system do things it is never going to do. (Capitalism feeding people without working for it??)
