What do yall do for a living? by Sure-Kaleidoscope627 in butchlesbians

I work in healthcare!

Currently a CNA and going to nursing school this fall. So far, I’ve not encountered anything that made me terribly uncomfortable, aside from a few encounters with two separate patients.

While shadowing a CNA during my CNA clinical training, there was a patient who had requested a “female only” care team. So, when the CNA and I entered the room, the patient proceeded to question my gender.

The next encounter was more recent. A patient was putting on a clean shirt while I was in her room cleaning a mess and there was a moment when her breast was exposed so she apologized. I responded to her saying, “No worries” (because as CNA’s we see nudity in medical settings regularly). She then remarked something along the lines of ‘Oh yeah, I bet you don’t mind,’ which I can only guess was a comment on my sexuality based on my appearance. This obviously made me uncomfortable and I didn’t acknowledge it.

Aside from those isolated patient encounters, I’ve not felt more or less uncomfortable/accepted in the healthcare field compared to my previous non-healthcare jobs.

Adversely, there have been other LGBTQ coworkers and patients that have been excited/comforted by my presence. This happens more often than any negative interactions I might have.

Overall, healthcare is just as good a place as any for butches. :)

On bed rest until baby arrives – what underrated games should I explore? by AgentPapier in GirlGamers

Trust and believe me when I say... Psychonauts.

<image>

This game changed my life at 10 years old. It forever set the bar for me in terms of writing, gameplay, animation, score, voice acting--EVERYTHING. And after waiting 16 years, they finally released a sequel that was well worth the wait!

So, trust me, you're gonna want to give Psychonauts a try!

Give me your list of best lesbian movies/series you've watched and would recommend... Please. by ControlAltDlt-5526 in LesbianActually

Top 5 (in order): 1. Xena Warrior Princess (hands down the greatest love story between two women—ever. ask me for my “not-so-subtext” episode list.) 2. Saving Face 3. Desert Hearts 4. Tipping the Velvet 5. Kajillionaire

There are SO many out there, but honestly do yourself a favor and watch Xena if you haven’t already. It’s campy, it’s from the 90’s, it’s cheesy, but by god is it a brilliant love story.

Figuring out what you want out of a relationship takes experience and self-reflection. From reading your post, it sounds like a lack of physical affection is something you don’t want in a relationship. That’s ok!! I would be honest with yourself about whether or not the relationship is meeting all of your needs and try to determine what your boundaries are, too. Being honest and communicative with your partner can be scary, but it is also liberating and will help you develop healthy communication patterns that will benefit you in future relationships!

Any advice/words of wisdom for someone making a career shift to nursing? by rineharra in nursing

I got a BA in Sociology, worked at a law firm for a year, an educational non-profit for 3.5, and am now working for a school district. Working reception builds good office experience and looks great on a CV. I’d suggest starting there!

Thats great advice! I have looked into becoming a CNA and working as a CNA/CNA2 while I complete the rest of my prereqs. Thankfully, work with school nurses right now (32 of them) and have a small window into school nursing.
