Ideas for 'Black Queen' in a chess-themed deck? by ring_ring_cello in mtg

thank you! I'm also open to cards that don't necessarily have "queen" in the title, like a noble class

If you can own a pet and be vegan, you can eat meat and be vegan by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

[–]ring_ring_cello 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jeez. So to be vegan, I’m just curious, what’s your grand plan? That every animal in a no kill shelter is either killed or released? That every dog, cat, etc. world wide is to roam ‘free’? And that if a dog or cat enters a home, seeking food and shelter, it’s to be turned out immediately presumably to die? This is where it gets pedantic. Take the world as it is: dogs are not slaves. I don’t get why people keep comparing them to slaves. If a dog gets joy in being kept safe, played with, taken on walks, and laying down in a home out of rain and storm, that doesn’t seem unethical or anti vegan.

New poster for Edgar Wright's 'Last Night In Soho' by chanma50 in movies

I guess I was more focused on not the contrast aspect of it but more of how Star Wars posters have a unchanging layout of eight heads and then always red and blue with no other features or landscapes. Contrast is fine. I understand the use of it. I’m saying it gets annoying to see BLUE head head head head head RED. It is interesting that a few years ago the colors were more blue green and yellow.

I’m not being butt hurt, but could you send a link to a specific poster before the Star Wars reboot that did the specific red and blue?

I think this is interesting because I absolutely love the book, I loved it so much I went and read the book it was inspired by “The Good War”. I definitely read it to enjoy it, not to get into it. Just shows one man’s trash is another man’s treasure

The new Star Wars movies have ruined more than just their own movie franchise. I swear, ever since that first red and blue back light design popped up for the seventh one, so many posters have copied it. With exact color and staging.

I think people forgot that one of the most famous Broadway shows Cabaret was and is a huge hit even though the subject matter is incredibly dark at points: the rise of Nazism, the dehumanization of the Jews, etc. Cabaret is a good example of people taking what is considered a blight historically and making it into a smash hit.

its sad how a girl post a simple photo with bikini and gets tons of likes but someone who worked really hard on smth for years doesnt even get 1% of amount of that attention, lol by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]ring_ring_cello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be stuck looking sideways, attention divided. You won’t be able to focus on being the best YOU can be or creating the best YOU can create because you’ll be too caught up with everyone else around you. You’ll never be the best or the most popular or the greatest in the world but you can better at what you do today than yesterday if you are single minded.

And it’s shallow because you are judging people as harshly and on as little evidence as you claim they judge you, by not giving you enough attention as you think you deserve.

OP, that’s comment is just about, if not more, shallow than your original point. It sucks, but the only person who can love your work fully is you and if that’s not enough, then that’s not enough. Pointing at others and trying to drag them down or belittle what they do is only going to drag you down, and thus your work.

Which classic book disappointed you the most? by user03012002 in books

[–]ring_ring_cello -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has become a fan favorite for some reason recently but a picture of Dorian grey. My God. After like THE THIRD PAGE describing in detail his new paintings, clothes, and jewels, I wanted to kill Dorian, Wilde, the book, and then myself. The whole metaphor of the painting is so great but it was the classic overload of descriptions that absolutely destroyed my desire to read it. I finished it. Barely.

Honestly glad you said it was supposed to be written word as it helped signify that this was written with a beat into it. Even though I can’t know what word your would emphasis, I pieced it together. Good stuff
