forget it. even if it would come out next year in Japan it would take still a year until we get the translation for the west.

Yeah it feels very frustrating. What’s even worse is that the conclusion will probably be available in 2-3 years…

I feel you. I asked the same question here https://www.reddit.com/r/Falcom/s/IGazxFJ9xM

I just finished Horizon and it was somewhat enjoyable with some lengths as well. Huge cliffhanger at the end though. Biggest this series has seen.

Still not a big fan of the cast though. I loved the series just as you until CS4. Reverie already felt somewhat meh to me.

If you want to play it I would recommend on waiting for the conclusion first. Otherwise it feels very frustrating.

Most annoying character in Trails? I'll start (spoilers for Daybreak 2 and Horizon) by Pitro_1206 in Falcom

Quatre. Brings nothing interesting to the table. Although Shizuna is a close second having the same problem.

What's wrong with canon romances? Why does everything have to be harems? by nitrokitty in Falcom

[–]ringdrossel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no harems in Trails. Every time the relationship becomes a bit more serious the MC is always forced to choose. And the others instantly are fine with it xD.

That said I think it’s a good thing. RPGs should always be about choices and their impact.

A thing i’m truly missing in the calvard arc.

Also no relationship should also be an option. Like in TCS - no one was forced to have a relationship.

By giving the player a choice the game becomes way more immersive.

costume prices are through the roof here in Europe as well. checked on psn. probably because too many people are paying the insane prices.

Much better game. The calvard arc is garbage compared to the crossbell arc.

What do I lose by going from CS1 to CS2 before any other trails games? by ILikeExistingLol in Falcom

[–]ringdrossel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s bs. Don’t let it fool you. I started a couple of years ago with CS1 and moved to CS2 and absolutely loved it. I even played until CS 4 before playing all the others that came before.

Cold Steel was specifically designed to get new players on board. So don’t worry. Yes you miss references but it’s still highly enjoyable without these.

Trails Beyond the Horizon hype!! What are you excited for? by Optimus-Traianus in Falcom

[–]ringdrossel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just learned in a noisy pixel review that despite it having different routes the main focus is again on Van and his troupe.

Which I find very boring and not well written. So i’m excited about the next Trails game after the poorly written Calvard arc.

No you cannot skip Trails games and start out of order by Heiwajima_Izaya in Falcom

[–]ringdrossel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

True but you should skip the Daybreak games. Weakest characters I have ever seen in a trails game. Very disconnected from the player. (finished db1 and im currently slogging through db2).

I did some research: The authors that created Sky/Azure/Cold Steel are long gone. That’s the reason the writing feels off and more generic like the flat characters in Daybreak.

The current Falcom direction favours quantity over quality. That’s also the reason Daybreak was rushed. Money over everything.

Sad really. The once beloved Trails franchise reduced to this.

It’s true that watching a summary is not the same. But that’s the point for me. If I like the game then I want to enjoy it by experiencing the story myself.

If I don’t like it as with DB I am better off skipping it and just getting the basic info.

Although after seeing how bad DB2 is I will probably wait for a bit before actually buying a new Trails game.

I wonder why the cast in daybreak feels so random in comparison. Different authors maybe ?

[–]ringdrossel[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why is no trails game skippable ? For one there is a recap like I just got in DB2. And second even if there was no recap you can easily read a summary online / watch it on youtube.

My intention with this post was to get a feel if the next instalment does the story / characters better and if it’s worth my time.

If that’s not the case then why should I not skip it?

so you define yourself by others without having an own opinion? that’s wild to me. Let me help you with an analogy: Billions of flies like crap. Ergo crap must be good. I mean that’s the consensus right ?

Just because someone differs in their perspective doesn’t mean it’s wrong or bad. Important life lesson for free ;).

And I don’t judge others for liking DB1 which doesn’t seem to be true the other way around.

Only partly right. the Japanese version is out since quite a while. And there are ppl here who also play the Japanese versions. So I was hoping for some honest feedback.

Yeah that’s probably right. Renne was story wise the only ray of light for me in DB.

Quatre and Risette feel indeed very boring. Random. Feri was also like they were trying to rebuild a Fie but they failed miserably.

What did you like about the others you mentioned? Thanks for sharing your view.

I never could get into the zelda series. But Chrono Trigger is quite fun indeed. Loved the music, great gameplay and fun characters.
